Holman returns to Great Crossing after a year spent at Hargrave Military Academy. The last time LJ played in a KHSAA game, he cut down the nets at Rupp Arena. He’ll look to do the same as a Senior.

Joining Griffin Elite, Holman had a MONSTER performance in a thrilling overtime contest Vs All Ohio Red to end the night. Holman was getting whatever he wanted when he attacked downhill as he does such a good job getting back to his left hand with spin moves and crossovers. An acrobatic finisher at the rim, Holman has the strength and athleticism to hang and twist his body around rim protectors in the paint. The highlight of the night came when Holman drove down the lane and snuck in a poster dunk past two All Ohio Red defenders in a magnificent display of his quick twitch explosiveness. Overall a dominant performance from Holman who was one of the best guards in Kentucky before making the move to the Prep level with Hargrave Military Academy.

Holman is a strong, attacking, athletic left-handed guard who earned All-EPL honors. He can create his own offense off the dribble, using his strength and quickness to get downhill and put pressure on the defense. A capable shot maker, he can score from multiple areas on the floor and is especially effective pushing the pace in transition. Holman plays with confidence and brings an aggressive mindset that makes him a consistent offensive threat.

-The speed and explosive capabilities of Holman serve as a nice catalyst in a Hargrave offense that had good balance and firepower over the course of this EPL season. Holman made an immediate impact with a stepback 3, laced a 3 from the left wing off the bounce in the secondary break, hit a huge corner 3 late in the 2H, and threw down a poster dunk with the left in transition. Holman’s superpower was on display as he showed really good speed in the open floor as an improved decision-maker adept at running the fastbreak because the defense couldn’t load up on his drive or leave his man on an island without help.

Holman is a shifty floor general who does a great job of controlling the game. He has a nice grasp of the game and is playing chess while others are playing checkers. He is very effective using ball screens and has great chemistry with his bigs. He can be in good spots to rebound and can push the ball up the floor. Holman showed he could accumulate points in a plethora of ways. He added 9 points in his teams win. He is a prospect who should see heavy attention from mid and low majors division one programs.

A state champion, Holdman played a key role for Great Crossing last season as just a sophomore. With a dominant month of June with Great Crossing, Holman opted to head for Hargrave Military Academy for his junior season. Morehead State, Youngstown State and Bowling Green State have all offered Holman and I’d expect more schools to follow. Holman has also announced a move to Kentucky Basketball Club on the Puma circuit for his 17 U grassroots season, he spent this summer with Brad Beal Elite’s 16 U group as a complimentary piece.

A tough loss for Brad Beal Elite 16 U but they qualified for Peach Jam and Holman played his role well off the bench for his team. Holman has a sweet reverse layup off a baseline drive and hit a top of key 3 off the catch. Efficient from the floor, Holman was 3/4 from the field on Sunday morning. Add in solid defense and no turnovers, Holman did what was asked of him.

One of the most athletic players in the state of Kentucky, Holman had some unreal highlights on Wednesday with a couple monster dunks and a scorching stretch from the perimeter as a shot-maker in the second game I caught. Now the featured option on his team, Holman is now tasked with creating his own shot and setting the table for his teammates. One of the best shots I saw all day was when Holman hit a tough pull-up 3-poiner at the halftime buzzer with the defense all over him. If Holman can improve his right hand and cut down on some turnovers, he’ll be one of the toughest players to stop in Kentucky this winter. Already adding multiple Division I offers from Youngstown State and Morehead State in June, Holman will be one of the top prospects Division I coaches come to watch this weekend in Lexington.

After waiting his turn for two years at Great Crossing, LJ is now the main piece for the Warhawks. A very athletic guard who is transitioning to running the point full time, Holman has extremely high long term potential thanks to his ability to score as well as to lock down opposing guards.

Holman is a very athletic combo guard who is slowly transitioning to running point guard all the time. LJ was a starter for the state champion Great Crossing team and should be expected to be the main draw for the Warhawks next season, assuming he doesn’t transfer.
