Segond Sompa Segond Sompa 6'9" | PF Grace Christian-Knoxville | 2027 FL of Tennessee Impact 17U was a formidable prospect who could average a double-double in any game. Throughout my evaluation, he consistently delivered solid production on both ends of the court, primarily in the paint. Standing at 6’9, the forward showcased his athleticism and shoulders to finish strong in the paint, sometimes absorbing contact to complete plays. Occasionally, he demonstrated touch in the mid-range, taking short jumpers from face-ups and receiving the ball in that area. Defensively, he was highly aware of opposing players approaching the paint, contesting and blocking shots from his rim protection. After the Session III weekend, Segond received offers from multiple Division I schools. 

This Tennessee Impact program has continued on their upward trajectory as they consistently have prospects who provide a ton of value at the next level. Segond Sompa is exactly that because of how impactful he is for this team at both ends of the floor with what he’s capable of doing at this size. Sompa is a difference making rebounder at both ends of the floor along with having the necessary skill to provide this group with a versatile scoring arsenal. Sompa is a strong finisher above the rim but he’s also got the necessary mobility to attack some slower bigs off the bounce from the perimeter. He’s active in protecting the rim and even shows flashes of outside touch from time to time. He’s going to be a really impactful player at the next level and it’ll be fun to see where he ends up.

6/26/26: Like a flag blowing in the wind, Sompa’s full beauty is on display this month. He runs the floor with grace, aptly as he plays for Grace Christian. While Sompa projects as a forward he does play center a lot within the high school ranks. Light on his feet. Sompa earned offers from Oral Roberts. Arkansas State, Richmond, and Tennessee Tech. The elegance of his footwork sets him apart from other big men at this age. He shows off impressive command of his body and can finish from different angles when challenged. Add on his natural power and the Top 10 ranking statewide becomes warranted. Honestly, Sompa’s ceiling may be higher than the 5-7 guys thanks to his relative newness to the game.

Segond put together a very solid weekend and continued to showcase his versatility as a frontcourt prospect. Comfortable stepping out on the perimeter and knocking down the three, while also finishing through contact around the rim with force. Moves well for his size, displays good touch in the paint, and showed agility operating around the basket. Brings valuable inside-out production and plays with confidence on both ends. Continued performances like this should lead to increased attention from college coaches during the live period. Solid Division I prospect with upside.
