About Dylan
Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
The tallest player in our national rankings, Betts carries on a family legacy as his older sister Lauren just won the NCAA championship with UCLA and was drafted fourth in the WNBA draft. Dylan has similar height advantages over just about anybody he plays against as his length and rim protection are obvious traits that you cannot teach. I thought Betts looked confident at each Team USA minicamps I was able to see him at, getting experience playing against some older and stronger talent. After watching him be a monster in the paint on the 3SSB circuit at 15 U, Betts is now rolling with Legynds 16 U on the EYBL circuit alongside some other top talent in the 2028 class. Exciting prospect to track who Prep Hoops is currently higher on than the rest of the industry, with most other places have him currently around 10th in the country.

Betts’ length dictated every game. The 7’2 sophomore didn’t need to chase blocks to be effective, his presence alone discouraged drives. Betts showed excellent timing when contesting shots, rebounded his area, and flashed strong passing instincts for a player his size. His impact consistently went beyond the box score.

The tallest player in the blue group, Betts has the size and length to easily dunk whenever he catches the ball within 3 feet of the rim. His shot blocking upside is obvious and he swatted a handful of shots this weekend. I also like that Betts is physical and goes into contact even though his body isn’t fully developed. Any prospect over 7 feet tall will get headlines but Betts is a lot more than just a tall presence.

We mentioned Betts in our top 10 prospects article and nothing has changed from that write up, his combination of size, quick feet and shot blocking makes him an easy selection on our national rankings and we expect him to appear on other outlets sooner rather than later.

The tallest player in our rankings, Betts has the potential to be one of the best rim running and shot blocking players in the country. With tremendous upside due to how quick Betts can move his feet and turn at his height, he is an extremely fluid athlete who will get tougher to defend as he adds strength and weight to his frame. The nutrition team at IMG Academy could do wonders for him gaining healthy weight and maturing over the next few years.

The tallest player I saw all weekend in Rock Hill, Betts is only a 2028 prospect! Showing massive potential at his size with soft hands and quick feet; the upside is very obvious with Betts. The lefty wants to get back to his dominant hand to finish at the rim and uses reverse layups and spin moves to finish with that hand. Like all young bigs, Betts is still a long way from reaching his full potential but his skillset right now shows he’ll be a priority for high major programs.

is destined for stardom in the box state. Betts is virtually un guard-able when he has the basketball on offense. On the other side, Betts length at 7’1 allows him to contest shots and create opportunities for himself and his team. Betts’ ceiling doesn’t have a limit, so watch out for this future basketball star.

Capable of covering plenty of ground to contest perimeter shooters, he defensive presence is already among the most beneficial interior defenders in the state. His continued growth as a face-up shooter in the mid-range will be fascinating to follow given this stage in his career.

Betts will be one of, if not the best rim protector in the state for years to come, bringing great hand eye coordination at his height. His activity through timely rotations both for the interior and perimeter impacted opponents decionsmaking, thinking twice about their shot attempts. Finding repeated success on a few left hand hook shots and pivot moves around the rim, Betts brings plenty of upside scoring in the post. Dealing with aggressive double teams all weekend, he found open teammates over and over when necessary.
