Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Colyer is the archetype of what you look for in a modern-day wing. The 6-foot-6 senior is strong-bodied and athletic, so he can guard his position and larger or smaller players. Offensively, he has a beautiful shot for his size and does a good job coming off screens and setting his feet before quickly letting it go—he shot it incredibly well this weekend and looks like his shot will translate to the next level. When the defense started overplaying him, Colyer showcased his handle and feel on closeout attacks and finishes in the paint and in transition. Colyer seems like a high-major player to me, and he hasn’t even come close to reaching his full potential.

IMG comes in as the presumed favorite among the non-Northeast programs, sporting a tight rotation of talented pieces at each spot in the lineup. The Swiss-army knife who often holds it all together is Colyer, a Florida native who does a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. He gives the Ascenders a potent multi-level scoring threat in the halfcourt but is also able to thrive as a secondary ballhandler or play a point forward role at times, showing impressive feel as a playmaker. When he’s knocking down shots consistently, he can look the part of a potential high-major prospect and make IMG a potential contender to win it all.

Colyer’s game speaks for itself. The 6-5 junior wing has impressed in both AAU play and high school competitions with his all-around ability. He can initiate the offense, handle the ball, and make plays for teammates with his unselfish passing. Colyer’s motor and basketball IQ make him a standout rebounder and versatile scorer, capable of finishing strong at the rim or hitting from mid-range and beyond.

Landyn Colyer, A 6-5 junior guard transferred from Land O’Lakes to North Tampa Christian has a strong knack where he can shoot the cover off the ball. He is also a strong passer and rebounder from the guard position where he uses his length and athleticism to battle against bigger players inside. On the defensive side, he continues to improve using his quickness when it comes to applying great ball pressure. Since the summer, Colyer has also received his first few D-1 offers from Florida State, South Florida and Washington.

Key Addition: Landyn Colyer 6-6 SG (2026). Colyer joined North Tampa Christian from Land O’Lakes this past summer. The sophomore two-way guard provides a lot of havoc on the defensive end of the floor, whether it’s diving for the loose basketball or showing a ton of activity in the passing lanes. Colyer also adds a ton of length where he can guard in the paint contesting tough shots and rebounds exceptionally well for his size. On the offensive end, he moves exceptionally well off the ball whether it’s coming off a screen and also has one of the smoothest catch-and-shoot releases you’ll find. He is a dynamic playmaker who should get some interest from college coaches by the end of this season.

The 6-3 combo guard has recently reclassified from the Class of 2025 to 2026, but has a strong feel for the game where he can knock down shots at all three levels. Colyer can also contribute for his teammates whether he has the basketball in his hands or not as he is always setting up for his teammates to get better. Last season for Land O’Lakes, Colyer averaged 14.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He will look to play a new role as he transitions into a new role with North Tampa Christian this upcoming season.
