Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Dever has long been known for his ability to knock down shots from deep, but his offensive game has expanded significantly and that’s what has stood out most this spring. He’s showing much more confidence putting the ball on the floor, attacking closeouts and getting all the way to the rim instead of settling for perimeter looks. His mid range game has also become a reliable weapon, allowing him to score at multiple levels and keep defenders guessing. Dever does an excellent job using screens to create separation, whether he’s setting up for a catch and shoot jumper, pulling up in the mid range, or getting into the lane for a floater. As his confidence continues to grow, so does his overall impact. He’s becoming a much more complete offensive threat and a tougher matchup for opposing defenses to contain

Dever showed a confident scoring mindset all weekend, hunting his shot without forcing it. He comfortably created space off the dribble, using quick hesitations and a tight handle to get to his spots. His range extended well beyond the arc, and he didn’t shy away from big attempts like knocking down several tough, rhythm threes. What stood out most was his composure even under pressure, his ball handling stayed controlled and purposeful. There were flashes of creativity, especially in transition and late clock situations. As he continues to balance shot selection with playmaking reads, Dever’s offensive upside looks really promising and exciting to track

Dever has taken a big leap in his overall game. He’s a smooth, confident scorer with a high IQ who doesn’t force the issue. Whether it’s knocking down open shots, finishing through contact, or making the right pass, he impacts winning. His growth was on display at both Colorado Live and the Tuneup, and he’s earned his debut with poise and production. This will be a season where he gets to prove himself, and I expect him to deliver.

Dever really had his game going on day 2, and it was clear he was in full control on offense. He was all over the court making defenders look like they had no chance. His dribble drive and crossover moves were on another level, allowing him to blow past multiple defenders. Once he got to the rim, it was almost automatic—he finished strong every time, whether it was a quick layup or absorbing contact. Dever also showed off his mid-range game, stopping on a dime and knocking down jumpers with confidence
