We saw that 7070 Athletics squad multiple times this summer and in each time that we saw them it was Jameson who we kept circling in our notebook as one of their top prospects. In fact, he was one of the better prospects in 14U as he showed that he’s a microwave scorer who can light it up from deep, his ability to space the floor opens up the rest of his game, and he’s able to mix it up. We also saw him show that he could control the pace and take matchups personally. We’d love to see him get out and show that he’s a name to follow moving forward. Another performance like this, and we might be all in on Jameson. 

Vargas caught fire at the right time, delivering one of the most impactful performances of the event. Defensively, he was relentless, applying constant pressure, forcing turnovers and disrupting the opposing offense with his active hands and effort. Offensively, he stepped up in clutch moments by knocking down timely three pointers that shifted momentum in his team’s favor in game one to give them the win. His ability to influence the game on both ends of the floor helped secure a victory and showcased his value as a two-way playmaker.

Vargas was one of the more impressive guards and shooters on Day 1 playing with a great mix of pace, poise and confidence. He did an excellent job taking control of his team’s offense, keeping everyone organized while still creating his own opportunities. Vargas consistently got to his spots on the floor and showed a polished mid range game, knocking down several tough, contested shots. His ability to change speeds and stay under control allowed him to create separation and make plays throughout the day. If he continues to play with this level of confidence and command, he’s going to be a fun player to follow throughout the tournament
