Expert Analysis

Martin was imposing on the rims showing that he can play above the rim and score off of high percentage looks. He ran the floor in transition and was rewarded for it. Martin found ways to get rebounds. He also showed he could find others for scoring looks with his passing. He was very effective playing the 4 spot for his team.

Few 2028 prospects already have eight Division 1 offers, establishing Brandon as one of the top talents in his class. He has the type of athleticism that demands respect from opponents through his presence alone. That combined with his size and motor, makes him very difficult to stop when going downhill in transition. Brandon led his team to a successful showing at Midwest Mania last weekend and put the full gamut of his skillset on display. He used his long wingspan to extend his reach and finish plays around the rim once he got deep enough in the paint. He was also dominant on the boards as evident by the three offensive rebounds he collected to start the game in his squad’s final matchup.

Part of a deep stable of talented Phelps sophomores, Martin has been playing his best ball of the season as of late, earning his way to be a fulltime starter. He kept it up on Friday afternoon, using his physical tools and two-way activity to put up an efficient 13 points in a complementary role. Martin knocked down a smooth catch-and-shoot 3 from the wing to open the game before scoring 10 points in the second half on the strength of his instincts and athleticism as a cutter or crasher. His length, burgeoning strength, and explosive leaping ability make for a high-level combination, giving Martin a clearly high ceiling to grow towards as he works to refine his feel and skillset.

Helping to break the game open off the bench, Martin entered the game with an abundance of energy that blended with his high-level intersection of size, length, and athleticism to make an easy complementary impact on the margins. The Pittsburgh-area product finished with 18 points on a perfect 5-for-5 from the field (7-for-8 FT’s), showing off his nose for the ball whether on the glass, as a cutter, or flying around defensively. He showed improving touch and a naturally high release on a pair of smooth jumpers (one from beyond the arc). Martin’s natural physical gifts and ability to impact games without the ball in his hands make for an enticing long-term outlook that’s already drawn attention up to the high-major level.

Another Phelps prospect new to the area, Martin comes across the state from Greensburg Central Catholic with D1 recruitment already in tow and showed notable signs of progress with his play on Saturday afternoon. Known for his athleticism and prototypical wing frame, we expected to see Martin flying around and making plays in the open floor, which he did to a great effectiveness. Where he impressed most, however, was in showing the steady growth of his halfcourt skillset. Martin executed a number of self-created drives from the perimeter while also showing a clean high release as a shooter off the catch or on simple midrange pullups. We’ll have to see him start to incorporate such elements into more structured game settings moving forward, but if Saturday was a sign of things to come, then there figures to be high-major recruitment in the Pittsburgh-area native’s future.

The No. 6 ranked prospect in the Class of 2027 is fitting in nicely with his new teammates. At the Mid-Atlantic ISTC, Martin grabbed the attention of college coaches with his length, solid frame, handles and scoring skills. Earlier today, Martin pulled in an offer from Fairfield.

Last month our No. 6 ranked prospect in the Class of 2027 announced that he was departing Greensburg Central Catholic, transferring to the Phelps School and reclassing into the 2028 graduate year. In June I am extremely interested to witness how Martin’s size and hybrid forward / guard skill set mesh with the uber-talented Phelps roster. Martin is an agile, athletic, and solidly built (200-lbs.) prospect. He can produce points in close by scoring over defenders with either hand or by using a drop step and then powering through contact. Martin can also crash the offensive glass for second chance points. The trifecta of his speed, length and finishing skills make Martin difficult to contain in transition. On defense, he is a fierce rim protector and pulls in tough rebounds.

A prospect who started to blossom on the Prep Hoops Circuit playing up at the 16 U level a year ago, Martin has since reclassed to the 2028 class and is now playing up again on the 16 U level with Nova Village. An impressive transition athlete, Martin plays above the rim and had a handful of breakaway and alley oop dunks. I also liked that Martin wasn’t afraid to post up when he saw a mismatch and used his size and strength on the block. One of the more naturally talented prospects in Pennsylvania’s 2028 class, Martin will receive a bunch of Division I interest over the next few years.

Our No. 6 ranked prospect in the Class of 2027 and one of the most sought-after underclassmen in the nation is on the move. In 2024-25, Martin played at Greensburg Central Catholic. He will now take his talents to the Phelps School and reclass into the 2028 graduate year. The 200-pound Martin is athletic and active perimeter prospect with an efficient scoring skill set. Martin generates points via dives to the rim, the offensive glass and by filling a lane in transition. He can also attack the cup off one or two dribbles for a lay-in or dunk. On defense, the trifecta of Martin’s wingspan, quickness and timing make him an intimidation shot blocker.

Martin who’s just starting to scratch the surface as a prospect is a country mile long wing with imposing size on the perimeter. He thrives getting to spots off the bounce. He showed he could also take it coast to coast in transition. He has great body control when on the attack and has a good shot selection for an underclassman. He found a body when boxing out and showed off his explosiveness when crashing the glass. He finished with 10 points in the win.
