Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
As the more talented team, it was incumbent on Phelps not to come out lackadaisical, and Vigo made sure that wasn’t a problem with his athletic two-way aggression to start the game. The Buffalo commit came out with 10 first quarter points on a pair of 3s and a pair of tough drives, setting the tone for a dynamic performance in which he largely got what he wanted offensively. Vigo was extremely efficient, shooting 12-for-17 from the field (3-for-5 3P) while operating as the Lions’ primary ballhandler and playmaker in the halfcourt. He’s playing at as high a level as anybody in the state right now and has Phelps looking like a strong contender for back-to-back PAISAA titles.

Vigo came out aggressive and never looked back, pouring in 27 points while taking on heavy ballhandling and playmaking duties throughout the win. The southpaw scored 18 in the second half to keep a feisty Lawrenceville team at bay, punctuated by a drive down the lane and emphatic dunk that closed the door for good. Headed to Buffalo next year, the Allentown product has shown throughout his post-grad year that he can control a game from the lead guard position, and has made significant strides as a shooter as demonstrated by a trio of 3s in this one. It would be no surprise at this point to see him make noise in the MAC early in his career.

A poster child for making the most of a post-grad year, Vigo finished his time at Allentown Central Catholic with just an assortment of D2 interest but has taken off as a bona fide mid-major D1 prospect at Phelps, culminating with his recent commitment to Buffalo. Vigo has continued to catapult up the rankings while setting fire to the prep school scene, using his unique blend of strength, explosiveness, and overall savvy to fill whatever role the Lions need on either end of the floor. His versatility is his ultimate calling card, but Vigo has also done a lot of work to show he can comfortably project as a true guard at the next level, sharpening his handle and refining his jump shot while still being the downhill battering ram that got him recognized in the first place. Vigo’s ability to consistently win possessions should make it hard to keep him off the floor in college and gives us reason for confidence in elevating him well into the statewide top 10.

After a standout career as a fixture at area power Allentown Central Catholic since his freshman season, Vigo has seen his stock take off since opting for a post-grad year at Phelps. A southpaw utility guard with a rare intersection of explosiveness and IQ, he’s a bulldog of a two-way presence capable of functioning up and down the lineup on either end of the floor. He can facilitate the offense from the lead guard spot, fill lanes athletically on the wing, or switch onto opposing forwards defensively using his strength and vertical pop. That type of feel and versatility is why multiple low-major programs have already offered Vigo in recent months, and he’ll have a chance to push toward the mid-major range if he can prove himself this winter to be a consistently dangerous perimeter shooter.

Coming off a dynamite opening weekend of EYCL play, it was more of the same for Vigo as Final Red cruised to an imposing 4-0 record to position itself among the main 17U contenders heading into Session 3 in Kansas City. A bruising, explosive downhill guard, it’s looked impossible for defenders to keep the southpaw from his spots as he showcases a deceptive handle and swift footwork before detonating inside for dynamic above-the-rim finishes. Vigo sets an intense tone defensively and is a regular turning defense to offense in transition, while also showing he can make enough jumpers to keep defenses honest. Heading to Phelps for a post-grad year this fall, he’s seen a slew of D1 offers come his way as a newly-minted member of the 2026 class.

After Vigo’s stellar performances at the EYCL tournament in Indianapolis, we expect DI offers will come pouring in for this athletic and versatile guard. This past weekend Vigo averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds per game as he pushed TFR to a 3-1 record. The pinnacle of Vigo’s weekend was a tournament 31-point (1 3PM) outburst against NW Rotary. Vigo was electric off the dribble as he got into the painted area for leaners, runners, and lay-ins whenever he wanted. His elusive handles combined with his speed, agility and finishing skills produced countless transition buckets. He did not hesitate to hammer a dunk home on defender’s heads. Vigo’s relentlessly attacking style really pops even during the up-tempo play on the grassroots circuit.
