An emerging name on the local scene, Sharif has been key to the Phelps prep team’s hot start to the year, and the budding jumbo guard impressed again in the Lions’ resounding win on Sunday over West Nottingham. With striking size, length, and strength for the backcourt, the Vermont native jumped off the page with a handful of knifing drives into athletic, acrobatic finishes near the rim. He kept things honest while converting on a pair of shots from beyond the arc and also helped set a tone with his intensity and versatility on the defensive end. Sharif would finish with 14 points while continuing to build his case as a scholarship-level prospect early on in his post-grad year.

Sharif made his mark in Vermont this winter while helping lead Rice Memorial to a state championship. After that, he took his game to another level, impressing both with Blueprint Basketball and at NERR’s Elite 75 North. A big guard that can really get downhill off the bounce, Sharif added layers to his offensive game in recent months. He’s now attacking bad closeouts off the bounce, finishing in the mid-range, and, at times, running the offense from the lead guard spot. Defensively, he’s long, physical, and strong and does a terrific job on the glass. He can guard up or down a position and doesn’t give up anything physically when switched into the post. Right now, he’s a priority target for a handful of D3’s in New England and could play his way up another level this winter.

is an athletic off-ball guard who competes on both ends of the floor. He stands out on the defensive side of the ball as he makes himself big with a competitive stance and extends his long arms to deflect in the passing lanes. Sharif can also pick the pocket of any offensive player and create defense into offense. On the offensive end, he can get up the floor well and finishes simply but effectively at the rim. Sharif can also stretch the floor from deep off the catch and is reliable from the corners. He has also experimented with some off-the-dribble scoring work in the mid-range which is intriguing. Overall, Sharif’s sick on-ball defense and some additional offensive upside should make him a must-have for coaches.
