Wallace-Johnson just needs a step or two and then it’s clear sailing to the rim. More impressively Wallace-Johnson’s perimeter shooting game is growing with a more willingness to shoot the ball and his accuracy making more.

Deon Wallace-Johnson Deon Wallace-Johnson 6'3" | PG DeLaSalle | 2027 State MN a six-foot-three-inch 2027 guard from DeLaSalle and D1 Minnesota 3SSB picked up an offer from South Dakota State August 13th after being offered by Drake at the end of June just prior to the July live period. Johnson was offered by FIU and Stonybrook as well early summer after a high school season where he shot 62% overall and 38% from 3. Wallace-Johnson is an athletic leaping guard that uses that athleticism on the defensive side of the ball as well to block shots and gather steals.

When it comes to explosive ball handlers, Deon fits that description perfectly. Because the 6’2 Islander is so agile laterally and up and down, his defensive potential at the next level is off the charts, and he can finish at the rim as well as most guards. On a team of Islanders that had a score first mentality, Deon did a great job being a steady hand taking them to the state championship game. And on a D1 Minnesota team that had three division one offered lead guards, Wallace-Johnson assimilated well playing off the ball too. With offers from Drake, Stony Brook, and Florida International, Wallace-Johnson is a recruit lows and mids should look at.

Deon has picked up three Division 1 offers in the past couple weeks and it’s easy to see why, as he and D1 Minnesota dominated on Thursday. He was flying around, making plays all over the floor. He was locking up defensively and was scoring the ball at a high level. His jump shot continues to improve, knocking down on 5+ threes in two games. Wallace-Johnson will be one of the top guards in Minnesota this season, looking to lead DeLaSalle back to the state title game.
