The Sophomore Camp All Event Team

Best of the best from the Sophomore Camp..................who stood out the most from the start to finish?   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">First Team</h2>    Dayee looks a bit taller, definitely stronger, and even though he was rebounding and finishing in dominant ways, Justus also used this event to show some of the perimeter skills he has been working on. We saw some perimeter jumpers made, there were attacks to the rim that led to separation and a finish, and all around, Justus was the best player and prospect at the sophomore camp.     The most dominant five on five player seemed to be [player_tooltip player_id='2917657' first='Ethan' last='Payne']. I don't want to try and guess the size so I will just say, Ethan is massive. He looks like an offensive line prospect with all of that added extra strength, and Ethan moves well with it! He was rebounding everything, nobody could contest his shots, and Payne helped over and blocked a lot of shots. Just a massive young man that moves very well for his size.     Start to finish, [player_tooltip player_id='2797912' first='Preston' last='Tyler'] had a case for being the event MVP. Tyler, who missed all of last year, was outstanding in both three on three and the five on five games. Tyler is a strong and skilled 6'5 who hit jumpers, scored tough inside, and created separation to score as well. Preston has a chance to be a high scorer for his team and a high percentage shooter. I was stunned at how good Tyler was coming off of injury     After Justus, the guy that seemed to stand out across the board to all scouts and those coaches watching was [player_tooltip player_id='2456461' first='Timmy' last='Thomas']. His open floor push, playmaking, and decision making were high level and there were times that between his ball pressure and creating, Thomas controlled just about every minute when he was on the floor. An outstanding showing.     It felt like every time there was a transition, White was flying ahead of everybody to score at the rim. He's a long 6'3 wing that dunked or laid in transition scores in bulk plus Royce also hit a lot of jumpers on Sunday. Threes and some longer twos, White's percentages with the jumper impressed as well. Defensively the length of White really helped with bothering the opposition in several ways.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Team</h2>    Covert made a monster impression. The toughness of the way he competed along with the skilled approach really stood out, I think he is a player that can help Wayzata sooner than later. Good shooter but a steady and tough all around player. Shot the ball really well from the perimeter and did a great job of creating space with or without the ball.     The Blake wing is a player that I felt was one of the most consistently productive at the event. If there were scoring leaders posted I think White would have been near the top as he's a player that understands point production includes physical paint and off ball production in addition to what the player can create 15 feet from the basket. Great length for a 6'4 wing.     Explosive. It's the quickest and simplest way to describe all the things that Ben did at the Showcase on Sunday. Exploded to the passing lanes, exploded to boards, exploded up the floor in transition, and exploded to the rim to finish strong.     Greer is a player that grabs my attention because the percentages of his finishes for a guard have to be, and usually are high. Love the body control of Greer going towards the rim as he seems to get balanced to finish in traffic better than most and he shot the ball well away from the paint with the jumper. One of the more accomplished scorers in the class.     The 6'2 athletic wing is another for the most part new name that has gone from a list of guys to watch, to a player that I think can make a huge impact soon. Nelson was just relentless and productive in a way that so many other sophomores weren't ready to compete against so he got the better of them, and that includes many known names that will be among the state's best players.     Davis is far more physically advanced than most guards his age. Davis is quicker and stronger than most entering their sophomore year so he blows by players and uses his strength to leverage defenders while he scores. Davis can immediately help North on both ends with his physical abilities.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Third Team</h2>    This is the second straight year that Williams has come to the camp and reaked havoc on the defensive end leading to transition runs over and over. Tough guard that has more pop to him than I think people expect.     Morris was outstanding. We need to bump him like 40 spots rankings wise based on what we saw on Sunday. Loved his approach to the game fighting to the corners to score, and out competing guys that were smaller than him playing the same spot.     Latimore was stronger and more physical than the players that defended him and that led to a consistent high percentage scoring effort for his team. He's a guy that ranked with the toughest to defend at the event.     It took a bit for teammates to realize Hudson is a player that can knock down shots but once they did, the ball found it's way to Reed who showed that stretch four ability that could make him a nice prospect.     Kamara is a player we identified last winter as one of the true up and comers in this class. This weekend Elisha was at the rim scoring strong and balanced regularly. His quickness/agility combined with that strength was too much for other players that were similar sized frontcourt players.    Fourth Team   [player_tooltip player_id='3654429' first='K'lani' last='Williams'] of Northfield. Williams was consistent throughout the event as a wing scorer and he is a name to watch at Northfield this year.   [player_tooltip player_id='3466930' first='Tilden' last='Witt'] of Houston. Witt was excellent. I could see Witt being a three year scorer in big numbers in the southeast corner of the state.   [player_tooltip player_id='3764823' first='Eli' last='Guetter'] of Rocori. Eli played some as a frosh off the bench but the way he has grown and improved skill wise Eli should play a big role ths year.   [player_tooltip player_id='2386780' first='Brekken' last='Koenigs'] of Southland. One of the better shooters at the event and one of the better shooters in Class A hoops.   [player_tooltip player_id='2875365' first='August' last='Zirnhelt'] of Cretin-Derham Hall. August had an excellent event and looks like a player that should be able to help CDH soon.   [player_tooltip player_id='3766706' first='Elijah' last='Kamara'] of Park Center. Used his strength agility to get by nearly every player that tried to defend him.
