Preseason Player of the Year: 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978099' first='Colin' last='Rice'] (Waukee Northwest)

The Nebraska commit was just the third leading scorer for the Wolves last season, but will be the go-to option as a senior for what may just be the best team in the state.

First Team

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978099' first='Colin' last='Rice'] (Waukee Northwest): 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.6 blocks, 53.6 FG%, 37.8 3P%, 75.0 FT%

Rice's ability to stuff the stat sheet on both ends of the floor was on full display throughout a dominant spring and summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2075630' first='Martin' last='Brothers'] that saw him grab multiple high-major offers. At 6-7/6-8, he has the ability to score from all three levels with efficiency, defend multiple positions, and is an extremely intelligent player who will be sensational as a senior for Northwest.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765524' first='Evan' last='Jacobson'] (Waukee): 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals, 1.2 blocks

Jacobson has committed to play tight end at Texas A&M, but will also reportedly play for the Aggies on the hardwood. A mobile, athletic 6-7 big man who can step out and stretch the floor, dominate the glass, and protect the rim defensively, he'll once again be the anchor for a Warriors team that will be looking to battle it out with Northwest atop Class 4A this season.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1977422' first='Rio' last='Aguirre'] (Ankeny): 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.0 steals

The top returning scorer in Class 4A, Aguirre makes everything look effortless on the offensive end of the floor. He has good size in the backcourt, plays with pace, and is a silky smooth shooter with the ability to create shots for himself and his teammates off the dribble.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765517' first='Tino' last='Daye Jr'] (Johnston): 16.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals

One of the best ball-handlers and shot creators in the state, coach Courtney Henderson handed Daye the ball last season and let him do his thing, and the results spoke for themself. He's a shifty, quick guard who keeps his defender off balance with his change of speed and ball-handling.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1643192' first='Landon' last='Davis'] (Waukee Northwest): 10.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 3.6 blocks, 74.1 FG%

Davis is the other Big Ten commit from Waukee Northwest, taking his talents to play for Brad Underwood at Illinois. One of the most dominant rim protectors the state has seen in recent years, his versatility on that end of the floor is what garners the attention, but he's also developing into a really good offensive weapon. He's strong and physical, but can also play with some finesse and grace.
