is one of the most elite lead guards in the state. For starters, Rio is one of the most efficient three-point shooters I have seen play this year. He has an extremely fast and fluid release with a beautiful arc. He uses his pristine shot to light up opposing defenses from deep. If given room, Rio is sure to make you pay for giving him space, as he is a super decisive scorer with great instincts. He hits threes both off the catch and off the dribble, and he can hit threes on the move, through contact, and from insanely deep range. His shooting ability creates many hard closeouts from defenders, which he is great at attacking and getting downhill. At the rim, Rio is great at scoring up and through contact with his soft touch. He has a patented floater that he hits at an insane clip, even through contact. Rio is also a great floor general and initiator of the offense. He keeps the ball out of harm’s way and makes great reads in the pick-and-roll and other offensive actions.

was on fire in this game. It really felt like he could not miss from downtown. He hit a bundle of threes in this game off the catch. And this was mainly due to his extremely fast and effective release. His touch from distance was as soft as you can get. And even with contests or not much space for him to get his shot off, it never seemed to bother his mechanics much. He displayed a very compact, fluid, and fast stroke. And the depth of most of his shots was very impressive for a shooter at the high school level. His footwork and balance as a shooter also stood out. He displayed an ability to hit threes on the move and control his momentum and keep his form in check. He hit threes off the dribble as well. Step-back threes were another method he used to make it rain in this game. And he was such a threat as a shooter coming around screens that he was fouled on his jumpers and still made the shot through contact. His shooting threat allows him to pump fake defenders and get them off balance. Which got him downhill, where he showed that his touch also translates to his floater. Which he was able to hit through contact for and-1 finishes. Tough layups through traffic were another area of his scoring that was impressive as well.

serves as the primary ball-handler and top scoring option for the Hawks. A ball-dominant player that attacks the rim and can shoot from the outside, Aguirre plays a ton of minutes and has the ball in his hands a lot.
More efficient than they eye test may show, Aguirre was 6-of-13 from the floor, including finishing 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and making 11-of-13 free throws. The most efficient shots in basketball are layups, free throws and three-pointers, and Aguirre got and made all three against Prairie on Saturda afternoon.

Aguirre is a highly skilled, intelligent combo guard who can control games as both a scorer and a facilitator. He has a great feel for the game, knowing when to attack, when to create for his teammates, and how to get to his preferred spots. He’s a really good shooter from the mid-range, and while his 3-point efficiency took a step back last season as the team’s primary scoring option, he can be a 40+% shooter when he’s able to get quality looks off the catch. He put up 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game last season and is the type of player who could help out a DII program very early in his career.

A smooth all-around guard who makes things look easy on the offensive end, Aguirre stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game as a junior. He shoots it really well from the mid-range, can get to his shot seemingly whenever he wants off the dribble, and he can play without the ball in his hands, knocking down shots off the catch from the arc.
