Cael LaFrentz
About Cael
Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
A nearly 7-foot tall big man, LaFrentz has great footwork, soft touch around the rim, and does a really good job of using his size and length to protect the paint without fouling. The son of former NBA player Raef LaFrentz, it should come as no surprise that Cael has some serious talent and will help a Division I program next year. He has kept his recruitment close to the vest, but is no doubt garnering plenty of interest. He averaged 29.2 points 12.7 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game on 65.4% shooting and 72.5% from the free-throw line.

The son of former NBAer Raef LaFrentz, Cael is a nearly 7-foot tall big man with impeccable timing as a shot blocker, soft touch around the rim, the ability to step out and stretch the floor out to 15-18 feet, and he’s great on the glass on both ends of the floor. He has kept his recruitment very quiet, but he’ll end up helping some Division 1 program. He put up 29.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game on 65.4% shooting as a junior and will be even more dominant as a senior.

is the son of former NBA player and Kansas alum, Raef LaFrentz. A unique prospect to say the least, the Decorah big man stands at 6’10” with a 7’1″ wing span. Slight of frame, LaFrentz still finds a way to dominate as a scorer in the paint with a series of floaters, turnaround jumpers, running the floor and positioning near the basket. The fifth-best scorer in the state and top scorer in Class 3A, LaFrentz averaged 29.2 points per game, along with 12.7 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per contest last winter.
As a rim-protector, LaFrentz uses his length to block shots and keeps his eye on ball-handlers that drive to the basket, making it near impossible to get a layup when he’s in the game. That same length allows him to step out to the perimeter and, when a shooter believes they have a clear look, reach in and swat it away.
LaFrentz has largely kept his recruitment private, though he shared that he and his family took a visit to Nebraska this last fall via X.
