His shooting mechanics are extremely brief and effective, which makes him the last player you want to give any space to on the three-point line. Mack is a flamethrower beyond the arc and hits threes at a high clip. Throughout this season, he has consistently offered great spacing and shot-making for Waukee Northwest. Even on a team full of high-level talent, his talent shines through. He can hit from deep off the catch and off the dribble with ease. And the value his shooting threat brings is a subtle but important piece to his team’s success. Along with his skill as a shooter, he is a great ball handler and driver. He is great at attacking closeouts when defenders try to run him off the line. And at the rim, he is great at finishing through contact and around defenders. His rebounding is also very impressive for a guard of his stature. He is constantly hustling and fighting for boards. He is also a great passer who makes quick reads, and he is great at not turning the ball over. He does all of this while being a great on-ball defender on the other end as well.

Heitland is one of the top quarterback prospects in the Midwest in the 2027 class, so his future is probably on the gridiron, but should he choose to pursue basketball he has a future there as well. He’s a high-level shooter who buried 48.6% of his 3-point attempts as a sophomore, and he’ll step into a bigger role following the graduations of the Wolves’ top two scorers from last year’s team. He has picturesque form off the catch and moves well without the ball in his hands. He’s a good ball-handler and playmaker who makes great decisions with the ball in his hands as well, posting a 4.56 assist-to-turnover ratio last season.
