How does he stack up against the top 20 players from the Dakotas?

Dreeszen is small, listed at just 5-8 as a freshman, but he’s tough, talented, and has a really high basketball IQ. He handles the ball extremely well and does a great job using his handles and footwork to create some additional space to get his shot off, and he’s a fantastic 3-point shooting threat off the bounce. He thrives in ball screen actions, where he can really showcase his ability to create for his teammates, turn the corner and get downhill, or step behind the screen and knock down open looks. He’ll be a key player for Northwest in the coming years.

Dreeszen is another Iowa prospect who has really moved the needle throughout the spring and summer. While he may not possess ideal size for a lead guard, he more than makes up for it with toughness, skill, and a high-level understanding of the game.

A heady and quick playmaker, Dreeszen does an excellent job of changing pace and using his body to create separation. He consistently keeps defenders off balance and understands how to manipulate angles to his advantage. As a scorer, he has been remarkably efficient, producing at a high level from all three levels of the floor. Whether he’s operating in the mid-range, finishing at the rim, or connecting from beyond the arc, he’s doing so with impressive consistency and efficiency.

Brody is particularly effective in ball-screen situations, where his feel for the game really shines. He does an outstanding job of manipulating defenders, forcing them into uncomfortable positions before deciding whether to use or reject screens. His ability to read coverage and make quick decisions allows him to create opportunities for both himself and his teammates.

Despite being undersized, Dreeszen’s strong frame allows him to compete against bigger players without giving ground. He plays with confidence, toughness, and an advanced basketball IQ that consistently stands out. In many ways, he looks like an extension of the coaching staff on the floor, directing traffic, making the right reads, and impacting winning through his leadership and decision-making.

I wasn’t able to see Brody Dreeszen Brody Dreeszen 5'9" | PG Waukee Northwest | 2029 State IA play myself, but our Tony Roe went to bat for the upcoming guard, so I will, too.

According to Roe, Dreeszen is “an electric shooter with ‘in the gym’ range. He shoots it really well off both the dribble and the catch, showing his picturesque form and great rotation on his shot.”

Dreeszen will join one of the top programs in the state in Waukee Northwest, as the rich get richer with a high-level shooter on the way.

Dreeszen is small, listed in the program at 5-5, but he’s extremely skilled, tough, and feisty. He handles the ball really well, keeping his defender off balance, and he’s an electric shooter with “in the gym” range. He shoots it really well off both the dribble and the catch, showing his picturesque form and great rotation on his shot. He’s a scrappy, quick on-ball defender with quick hands and great lateral movement. Despite his smaller stature he competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor, and he does a nice job using the threat of his shot to open up the rest of his offensive game, getting into the teeth of the defense and either scoring with floaters or finding open teammates.
