Ben Wade
About Ben
Expert Analysis
Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Ben had his full skillset on display in Sunday’s matchup against Big 3. At 6’9+ he moves effortlessly around the floor, able to beat opposing bigs rim-to-rim in transition with ease. In the first half alone Ben stretched the floor for a pair of threes, showed he can attack with one/two dribble drives, and threw down a powerful one handed dunk in transition. Defensively his mobility helps him slide into positions to make plays as a help-side shot blocker, but he can also move his feet to hedge screens and recover or defend smaller forwards on the perimeter when needed.

Regina didn’t have many bright spots on Thursday night, but the 6-9 Wade played well, scoring 21 points on 10-14 shooting to go with 7 rebounds. He’s a mobile, lanky forward who runs the floor extremely well, and he showed some toughness around the rim, scoring through contact on a few different occasions. He showed good footwork on his post touches and did a nice job keeping the ball high. He already holds offers from Drake and Northern Iowa, and he’s about to head into a big 16U summer for him.

When you watch Wade play, you can see the flashes of why he already has offers from Drake and Northern Iowa. He’s a legitimate 6-9/6-10, mobile, and really long. The tools are there, now it’s about putting it all together, playing with a consistent motor, and adding strength onto his frame, which will only help him become a more effective two-way player. He had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and an assist against Solon. The potential is tantalizing.
