Kelly was one of the first out-of-state prospects to catch my attention at the Run N Slam. A national Top 50, four-star prospect in the Class of 2028, Kelly was one of the best players in the gym while playing up a year for Breakaway 3SSB 17u. The ultra-skilled 6’7″ wing had a huge 26-point performance on Sunday to advance Breakaway into the 17u finals. His versatile offensive skill set was very impressive while playing against some of the best competition in the event.

A player who played up at the 17 U level last summer, Kelly just started his second season playing 17 U for Breakaway and is still playing up an age group. An elite perimeter shooter, Kelly averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists a game last weekend in California for Breakaway . Already holding offers from Creighton, Iowa, Missouri, St Louis, Northwestern and in-state powerhouse Illinois as his first offer, Kelly is being pursued by programs that are winning by developing high school talent. Look for Kelly to continue to make a lot of noise this summer for Breakaway .

It’s easy to see why Cole is regarded as one of the top 2028 prospects in the Midwest. In the two games I watched, Cole showcased a mature and versatile game while playing up at the 17u level. He’s a vocal presence on the floor for his team, makes smart decisions on the ball, and finds ways to score within the flow of the offense. He can drain the catch and shoot three, go to work with his back-to-the-basket, and showed some bounce when he drove down the lane and threw one down over the top of a defender. Impressive showing from one of the best in Illinois regardless of class.

Kelly is a lefty wing that has size, skill, and savvy. They were on display in this game as he scored 17 points despite not shooting as well as he usually does. Did manage to knock in a couple threes and got downhill to the line. Rebounds well for his position. Passes on the move.
