Coates is one of the most intriguing players in the state’s 2027 class – a unique blend of size, mobility, length, and athleticism. Coates may be one of the highest upside players in the 2027 class around the state. A big man with great size and the ability to protect the rim at a high level, he turned away 2.2 shots per game as a sophomore and alters opposing game plans with his athleticism and length in the paint. He’s a mobile, active big man who runs the floor well and can switch defensively. If he continues to add to his offensive skill set, watch out. He averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game on 53% shooting last season.
