CA Johnson squared off with the past Class 1A State Champion Christ Church. What a game down to the wire. The Hornets located right in the heart of Columbia have some new faces this coming season. CA Johnson added Tony Odom Tony Odom 6'2" | SG CA Johnson | 2026 State SC from Keenan HS and have few good ones to watch out for in Aiassic Germany and 2028 Elijah Harper Elijah Harper 6'3" | SF CA Johnson | 2028 SC . The Hornets will look to be a sleeper in Class 1A.
Christ Church returns plenty of talent back from last year. The Cavaliers will now be a Class 3A team this coming season. Jonathan Perry Jonathan Perry 6'0" | CG Christ Church | 2026 SC , Adam Brown Adam Brown 6'3" | SG Christ Church | 2025 State SC , Reid Hipp Reid Hipp 6'5" | PF Christ Church | 2026 State SC , Elijah Garrett and Bennett Cooke Bennett Cooke 5'11" | CG Christ Church Episcopal School | 2027 State SC all return for the Cavaliers. Perry a left-handed guard was able to get downhill with the rock in his hand. Brown plays very well going to the basket and shooting the ball from the mid-range. Adam constantly plays around the rock.
Hipp has soft hands and good footwork around the basket. Reid finishes at a high percentage clip around the bucket. Garrett a left-handed undersized post brings a good role guy to the roster and 5 fouls every night.
How will Riverside HS replace American University Julen Iturbe up front? The Warriors will rely on the trio of Sebi Boyogueno Sebi Boyogueno 6'3" | SF Riverside | 2026 SC , Keyon Knowles Keyon Knowles 5'9" | PG Riverside | 2027 SC and Reeves Garner Reeves Garner 5'11" | SG Riverside | 2026 SC this coming season to provide a scoring punch. Mikkel Skinner a bigtime football talent recently committed to the University of Cincinnati on the gridiron.
Jahleel Sanders Jahleel Sanders 5'11" | PG Cane Bay | 2027 SC played well here today for the Cane Bay HS Cobras. The Cobras a bit short-handed here today will look to add a piece or two this summer. Sanders a left-handed guard has really came on this spring with his play on the Grassroots Circuit.
The Panthers of McBee HS are located in Chesterfield County. The Panthers a Class 1A program in the Upstate finished (14-10) a season ago. McBee HS got strong play today from left-handed guard Tyrek Wright Tyrek Wright 5'11" | PG McBee | 2025 State SC . Wright wants to play 94 feet and get the ball downhill at all costs. Hayden Griggs was a pleasant surprise down in the paint. Griggs was able to seal off his defenders and gain position while working down low. Hayden is a baseball in the spring for the Panthers.
Camden HS looks to be a bit of a new team this season for Head Coach Sterling Council. Alot of new faces for the Bulldogs.
The Hanahan HS Hawks were without the services Jackson Wilber Jackson Wilber 6'0" | PG Hanahan | 2027 State SC today. Post player Justin Maduro Justin Maduro 6'5" | PF Hanahan | 2025 State SC was hitting the glass here today and running the floor. Maduro a bit of tweener on the floor plays out best around the paint area as a power forward.
White Knoll HS was without the services of James Smith James Smith 5'11" | PG White Knoll | 2027 State SC and Denzell Posey Denzell Posey 6'4" | SF White Knoll | 2027 SC today. Smith looks to be out for a while with a injury while Posey was in street clothes on the bench.
The Chapin HS Eagles finished just (6-18) last season. The Eagles this season will rely on Tyson Ray Tyson Ray 6'3" | PG Chapin | 2025 State SC from out top. Ray was in attack mode all day long and got to the basket quite easily. Tyson showed a quick 1st step to and some uncanny court vision at times.
Jaydon Bradford and Brendan McMahon Brendan McMahon 6'5" | PF Chapin | 2025 SC both seniors this season provided good work around the paint area for the Eagles. Bradford was able post up with his back to the basket while McMahon looked to play more as a face-up power forward. Brendan needs time to set his feet and setting up shop in the corners from time to time.
Braydyn Francis Braydyn Francis 5'10" | PG Chapin | 2026 State SC a point guard brings some savvy and scrappiness to the table with his play. Braydyn a vocal guard runs with Carolina Pressure on the Grassroots Circuit.
The Eau Claire HS Shamrocks hired a new coach this off season in Jacob “Junior” Laurie. Laurie played for the Shamrocks and the legendary Head Coach George Glymph back in the day. Cedric Schofield Cedric Schofield 6'7" | PF Eau Claire | 2025 State SC is back at Eau Claire HS after playing last season at Keenan HS with Laurie who was an assistant coach for the Raiders. Schofield a run-jump-athlete forward will be a nice addition to the squad. The Shamrocks will be well coached and certainly will have a very competitive attitude under Laurie.
The Bethune-Bowman HS Mohawks got to the Class 1A State Championship Game before falling to Christ Church. The Mohawks defeated Cross HS last season in the Lower State Championship 53-43. The Mohawks will rely on Bryson Robinson Bryson Robinson 6'4" | SF Bethune-Bowman | 2025 State SC and Terrance McFadden Terrance McFadden 6'4" | PF Bethune-Bowman | 2026 State SC this season. Robinson lengthy small forward really likes to work the baselines with his game. McFadden is a thicker undersized post player with a nice set of hands to catch everything thrown in his direction. The Mohawks finished the year at (17-7) a season ago.
Gray Collegiate has a new Head Coach in Carlos Powell this season. Former Head Coach Dion Bethea has moved onto Georgia Southern University. LJ Britt LJ Britt 6'3" | CG Gray Collegiate | 2025 State SC and Hunter McGraw Hunter McGraw 6'2" | CG Gray Collegiate | 2027 State SC are just two of the pieces back for the new Class 4A program in West Columbia. Britt a senior leader and the left-handed McGraw will be major contributors for the black and white this coming season.
Abijah Franklin Abijah Franklin 6'4" | SG Wren | 2025 State SC is back at Wren HS this season for the Hurricanes. Abijah has the ability to pile up points in a hurry while on the floor. Franklin has had a good spring on the Grassroots Circuit. Abijah is a scorer who can really deliver a punch anywhere on the floor at times.
