It's June! The Scholastic Period has returned and prospects have taken a break from their AAU travels to rejoin their High School Coaches and Teammates for an exciting month. There are new faces all over the place and must-see players up and down the state. Teams will be in action with Play Days, Team Camps, and the all-important Live Periods at the end of the month. This year, the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Live Event will be held in North Augusta, South Carolina June 21st-23rd. Check out 1 team from each class I think College Coaches must watch during the Scholastic Period:

Class AAAAA - Ridge View (Region 5)

Head Coach - Joshua Staley

Key Returners - [player_tooltip player_id='1692243' first='Korie' last='Corbett'], [player_tooltip player_id='1972146' first='Malachi' last='Cooper'], [player_tooltip player_id='1158877' first='Reggie' last='Mack'], [player_tooltip player_id='2419234' first='Treyvon' last='Smith'], [player_tooltip player_id='1679970' first='Yale' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='2104388' first='Robert' last='Wylie']

Key Departures - Joshua Smith, Jayden Pretty, Zachary Smith

The defending 4A State Champions ended the season Nationally Ranked and drew eyes from Scouts and Coaches all season long. They do lose three players who will play the next level, but their roster was so deep last season there is no shortage of talent on it this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1692243' first='Korie' last='Corbett'] will be the team's most talented player, but [player_tooltip player_id='1972146' first='Malachi' last='Cooper'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1158877' first='Reggie' last='Mack'] are terrific role-playing guards and [player_tooltip player_id='2419234' first='Treyvon' last='Smith'] is one of my favorite big men in the state. [player_tooltip player_id='1679970' first='Yale' last='Davis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2104388' first='Robert' last='Wylie'] each had big years as youngsters last season and should step into larger roles this season.

Class AAAA - Wilson (Region 5)

Head Coach - Yusuf English

Key Returners - [player_tooltip player_id='1486211' first='Josh' last='Leonard'], [player_tooltip player_id='1149789' first='Tristan' last='Thompson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1333159' first='Khristian' last='Bruce']

Key Departures - Head Coach Carlos Powell, Bryan Boston, Keith Small

The Wilson Tigers have two of the best returning players in Class AAAA regardless of grade. Joshua Leonard has the potential to be one of the State's prospects in a long time while [player_tooltip player_id='1149789' first='Tristan' last='Thompson'] is an all-around Guard with good size and a high floor at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id='1333159' first='Khristian' last='Bruce'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1425907' first='Elijah' last='Smith'] also had important roles last season and should draw some looks from College Coaches this summer. Yusuf English was named the Tigers' new Head Coach after Carlos Powell departed for Gray Collegiate.

Class AAA - Keenan (Region 4)

Head Coach - Zach Norris

Key Returners - [player_tooltip player_id='1276361' first='Brian' last='Sumpter'], [player_tooltip player_id='1463715' first='Cedric' last='Schofield'], [player_tooltip player_id='1474820' first='Broderick' last='Anderson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1851158' first='Emmanuel' last='McCullough'], [player_tooltip player_id='1848632' first='Tony' last='Odom']

Key Departures - Rashard Robinson Jr

Robinson was the only Senior on the Keenan Roster last season so the Raiders return a ton of production. They have been a factory for athletic wings with length who go on to succeed at the next level - most notably Dillon Jones who has his name in the 2024 NBA Draft. [player_tooltip player_id='1276361' first='Brian' last='Sumpter'] is the prospect with the highest ceiling and he has been offered by Jones' Alma Mater Weber State. Sumpter has extreme length and athleticism but has continued to improve his overall game with each season. Anderson has also improved his skills tremendously, particularly with his perimeter shooting. Schofield is also an interesting prospect for Coaches to monitor.

Class AA - Atlantic Collegiate (Region 7)

Head Coach - Jason Harris

Key Returners - [player_tooltip player_id='1158878' first='Jamie' last='Brooks'], [player_tooltip player_id='2384029' first='Jaylen' last='Bellamy'], [player_tooltip player_id='1672057' first='Jones' last='Lay'], [player_tooltip player_id='1485126' first='Clayton' last='Hemingway'], [player_tooltip player_id='2381316' first='Seeger' last='Medalie']

Key Departures - Elijah Ellis, Santana Mayes, Sam Medalie

The departure of Gray Collegiate and Oceanside Collegiate to higher classifications leaves Atlantic alone in AA and they will be one of the favorites to lift the trophy in March. They have size up and down the roster including [player_tooltip player_id='1158878' first='Jamie' last='Brooks'], [player_tooltip player_id='1672057' first='Jones' last='Lay'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1485126' first='Clayton' last='Hemingway'] who are all 6'6"+. [player_tooltip player_id='2384029' first='Jaylen' last='Bellamy'] is a dependable Rising Senior Guard for them but if [player_tooltip player_id='2381316' first='Seeger' last='Medalie'] takes the next step in his development it could drastically improve the ceiling of the Armada.

Class A - Cross (Region 5)

Head Coach - Chaquain Boone

Key Returners - [player_tooltip player_id='2044353' first='Micah' last='Flute'], [player_tooltip player_id='1498248' first='Caden' last='Ramsey']

Key Departures - Jamez Way

Cross High School is a smaller school that College Coaches might want to check out due to two solid Forwards who return from a team that made it to the Lower State Championship last season. Ramsey had a monster performance in that game going for 22 Points in the loss and holds Football Offers from Coastal Carolina, South Florida, Virginia Tech, and UNC Charlotte, while Flute is slightly taller and controls the paint on both ends.
