Thompson was also a crucial part of his team’s success in a win. After a slow 1-7 start from the field, Tristan got going late in the first quarter finding his rhythm with a tough and-one finish. He also had back-to-back buckets to give his team the lead late in the second quarter and scored or assisted on the first three field goals in the third quarter. Thompson showed persistence in attacking the rim, strength in finishing, and vision for finding teammates while driving the ball. Although it wasn’t his most efficient perimeter shooting game (1-6 3FG), Tristan had lots of success scoring with both hands in the paint. His off-hand finishing was particularly impressive, including a go-ahead bucket with his left hand in the final seconds of Wilson’s win over Huntington Prep.

of Wilson High School in 4A Region 5. Thompson is the prototype two-way playmaking Wing in the state of South Carolina. He is a terrific on-ball defender with versatility to guard multiple positions, while also being able to affect the game on offense in several ways. Although he had a very good Summer, Thompson will have more opportunities to run the offense for the Tigers than he did for Upward Stars SE. During the 2023-24 High School Season, Tristan averaged a team-high 17.8 Points Per Game on 50% field goal percentage. Thompson committed to Coastal Carolina on September 28th.

It was easy to see right away why Coastal Carolina is excited to have Thompson in their 2025 recruiting class. He’s a bundle of energy who does whatever is needed to help his team win. He was impressive in the opening games for his squad in creating quite the tempo for them to follow with his ability to fly around for blocks and rebounds to create opportunities on the opposite end. He’s a prospect with a bright future at his size at 6-foot-5.

Tristan had a strong performance for the Tigers in a high-level matchup with Greenville. Thompson was a fluid scorer all game long with lots of success finishing at the rim with both hands or pulling up from his spots in the mid-range. Most of his pull-up jump shots came from the middle of the floor because he had the ball in his hands so often, but he did show some flashes of what he can do when not the primary ball handler. Most of his drives were defended toughly, forcing Thompson to finish creatively around defenders or strong through them. He put up 25 Points and 6 Assists converting on 2-3 attempts from behind the arc.

Thompson brings good versatility to the floor for the Tigers. Tristan stuffs the stat sheet every night he suits it up. He can do a little bit of everything it seems when it comes to handling the rock, defending multiple positions, knocking down shots and just making winning plays in return.
Tristan has great versatility to play anywhere on the perimeter while defending multiple positions in return.

Thompson is the final name from the Carolinas to keep an eye on. He shook off some early shooting woes with his ability to get to the free throw line for Upward Stars SE in Session II. He finished with 8.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG and 1.0 APG while finishing 9-for-11 from the free-throw line across three games for his squad. He’s another versatile name to keep an eye on with this group given his pedigree at 6-foot-5.
