One of the top shooters in the state happens to still be available:

. Malachi had 50/40/80 shooting splits through January 1st and Prep Hoops SC caught him on a good day in December where he put up 19 Points on 5-8 3FG. Cooper is a confident shooter all around the perimeter and can make plays off the bounce based on defensive reads. He is also an active defender with good length and instincts to disrupt offenses. Malachi holds 3 college offers, most recently adding Caldwell University to the list.

. Cooper was massive in the Blazers’ comeback victory. He had 12 Points on 4-5 3FG in the first half, keeping them within striking range, and then had a few more key plays in the second half including work on the defensive end and another made three. Malachi displayed a terrific shooting stroke from the corners, shot-ready hands, an ability to make plays off the dribble with good vision, handle, and a confident pull-up jumper. He finished with 19 Points on 5-8 3FG in the Blazers’ win.

Cooper is quite the unsigned prospect to get to know given his activity on both ends of the floor. He’s more than just a shooting guard given his presence and length defensively. He won’t hesitate to pressure the ball to force easy turnovers to gain an advantage. Offensively, he’s difficult to stop getting downhill and when his feet are set, he’s a knockdown threat on the perimeter. He’s a top unsigned senior to know at Ridge View High heading into 2024-25.

leads off my second list of 2025 Standouts from the Phenom Summer Havoc thanks to his strong showing off the bench in Upward Stars Gold’s matchup with Team Swish. Cooper provided an instant impact off the bench, knocking down 4 of his first 6 shots, with a couple of them coming in a Stars’ first-half run. Malachi is a very good shooter from behind the arc and doesn’t need a lot of the ball to be effective on the offensive end of the floor. He rarely wastes dribbles and will move the ball quickly if his shot or a driving lane isn’t there. Cooper is also a good on-ball defender on the other end with long arms and active feet capable of keeping his matchup in front and forcing turnovers.

Malachi also had an important game for Upward Stars Gold in their win over J Squad. He had a game-high 13 Points, playing the role of shooter and slasher from his wing position. His ability to shoot the ball and score off the dribble causes hesitation in defenders, which he frequently capitalizes on. Cooper is also an asset on the defensive end because he has long arms and stays in his gap.

Coming off a State Championship-winning season with Ridge View, Malachi will be playing with Upward Stars SE Gold during the AAU Season. He is a pure shooter, an attribute that proved to be crucial for the Blazers in important games. Cooper averaged 9 Points Per Game and shot over 40% from behind the arc. Malachi also has good qualities on the defensive end and could carve out a role on the wing for Upward this spring.

Cooper can dial in from downtown when called on for the Blazers. Malachi likes to do his best work out on the perimeter knocking down shots. He really shoots the ball at a good percentage clip when given the opportunity. Malachi does a nice job of catching the ball in the pocket and letting it fly with a quick shot release.
Cooper and the Blazers are off to a great start this season. Malachi saw himself jump up from #110 to #75 this time around.

Malachi didn’t have the eye-popping numbers as some of the other players in this list, but when it mattered most, he stepped up. Malachi had 15 points in the Championship Game to help Ridge View stay undefeated and win the 2023 Chick-fil-A Classic American Bracket. Cooper is a true 3-And-D Wing and plays his role to perfection for the Blazers. He made two significant plays to keep the Blazers close prior to them taking the lead. At the end of the first half, Malachi went on a 5-point solo run to tie the game at 27 and midway through the fourth quarter he hit a left-wing 3 to bring Ridge View within 1. Without those plays, along with his team-high 15 points, the final score would be quite different.
