Trey was back in action this weekend in Bermuda Run after missing the SCHSL Team Camp and E.P.I.C. Hoops Summer Slam with an injury. He is a prospect I am higher on than most around the state, and if his consistency increases, he could be a problem for Ridge View this high school season. He worked extremely hard in Upward Stars Gold’s win over Team Swish, particularly on the glass. Smith hauled in 11 Rebounds using his size, strength, and instincts to dominate the boards and limit extra possessions for the opponent. He can also be a solid rim protector, especially if he is playing and helping in the paint. On the offensive end, Smith didn’t have a large role but was a factor with second-chance points and with his back to the basket.

Treyvon is one of two Upward Stars Gold prospects to stand out on Sunday Afternoon. Smith is a face-up big man who can play either the 4 or the 5. He looked very aggressive on defense and the boards, particularly on the offensive end where he earned a couple of second opportunities for his team. He has the physical frame to be a solid player at the next level, and if he plays with this type of motor consistently he can certainly be one.

Next up on the list is Ridge View’s Treyvon Smith. It feels like every other story I write features a Ridge View Blazer, but that’s just how stacked this team is. Smith will have a feature role in that frontcourt. He has great skill as a Faceup Four but is also a really good rebounder on both ends of the floor. Treyvon also has tantalizing physical attributes, so I am interested to see how he continues to develop going into a very important Junior Season.

Smith made the move over the summer from Gray Collegiate to Ridge View HS. Treyvon has the ability to play inside-out and finish everything around the cup. He can play with his back to the basket and finish with both hands around the cup.
Smith is equally effective on the defensive end of the floor with his ability to challenge and alter shots. Treyvon has no problems finishing and drawing contact down low in the post.

Smith will have a new address this coming fall. He will head over to Ridge View HS for this coming season he told Prep Hoops. TreyVon a left-handed forward finishes around the cup and tends to show a nice jump-hook at times. Smith can step-out to the elbow and knockdown jumpers when available to him.
