The 27th annual Les Schwab Invitational was held December 26-30 at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Oregon. This report takes a look at some underclassmen (from the first two days of play) in the event who put themselves firmly on the Division 1 radar with their performance and some who etched in stone their already-existing place. (Already-committed prospects are not included.)
6’3 CG Jalen Atkins Jalen Atkins 6'2" | SG Barlow | 2025 State OR of Sam Barlow HS (OR) 2025
Atkins is a versatile combo guard who can impact the game in different ways. He is a confident ball handler and a good passer who can find the open man. He shoots it fairly well with 3 range and he finds ways to the hoop on the drive. He is very active and makes plays for himself and his teammates consistently. Atkins is a good one to have on your side…
6’6 PF/SF Brayden Barron Brayden Barron 6'6" | SF Barlow | 2025 State OR of Sam Barlow HS (OR) 2025
In this day and age of social media it is probably a reach to call a player a “sleeper”. But Brayden Barron Brayden Barron 6'6" | SF Barlow | 2025 State OR does fit that bill based on no schools being in contact with him at this point. He is an active and athletic four man with long arms who contributes at both ends of the floor. He does a nice job getting to the hoop on the face-up drive from the mid-range area and he shoots it ok out the 3-point line. At the other end he is a nice shot-blocker and an active rebounder. Barron has a nice upside and he is a legitimate D-1 prospect. Word to the wise: don’t sleep on him.
6’5 G Brayden Boe Brayden Boe 6'5" | CG Mountainside | 2025 State #254 Nation OR of Mountainside HS (OR) 2025
Boe is a strong-bodied guard who can play anywhere on the perimeter. He has nice all-around skills including the ability to post up using his strength. He can handle, pass and shoot (3 range) and get to the rack on the drive. He has a solid motor and is a real nice competitor.
6’2 SF Isaac Bongen Isaac Bongen 6'2" | SG Jesuit | 2027 State OR of Jesuit HS (OR) 2027
Bongen is a strong and athletic wing who certainly does not look or play like a freshman. He is an impressive driver who finishes very well. He moves well without the ball and he shoots it pretty good with long range. He also has a nice floater in the lane. He’s a solid rebounder and he is pretty fundamentally sound for such a young player. Bongen is a real nice prospect with high-major potential.
6’9 CF Cameron Boozer Cameron Boozer 6'9" | PF Columbus | 2025 State #2 Nation FL of Columbus HS (FL) 2025
Boozer (twin brother of Cayden) really has no business playing high school basketball. He’s simply too good to be playing at this level. He’s a strong and athletic combo forward who literally does it all on the court at both ends and he is a ferocious competitor with a motor. Cameron Boozer Cameron Boozer 6'9" | PF Columbus | 2025 State #2 Nation FL is a future pro (like his Dad Carlos was) who will play this game for many years to come.
6’5 CG Cayden Boozer Cayden Boozer 6'5" | PG Columbus | 2025 State #28 Nation FL of Columbus HS (FL) 2025
Boozer is a fairly athletic combo guard who makes a ton of plays in transition. He pushes the break well and finds the open man. He plays off the ball regularly and hits open shots (with 3 range) consistently. He also has a solid floater shot in the lane. Boozer is a real team guy with a lot of high-level interest.
6’5 CF D’Andre Harrison D’Andre Harrison 6'5" | PF Perry | 2025 State AZ of Perry HS (AZ) 2025
Harrison is a real solid combo forward who continues to silence the critics with his play. He has a nice skill set and his ability to shoot with range is proven. He can handle and pass the ball comfortably and he has a clever floater. He uses his strength to score on the block as well. And he is a pretty consistent rebounder. Harrison needs to increase his athleticism some, but he is a definite D-1 prospect.
6’2 PG Avery Huston Avery Huston 6'2" | CG Cascade Christian | 2027 State OR of Cascade Christian HS (OR) 2027
Not too often would one say a freshman is a bona fide D-1 prospect. But Avery Huston Avery Huston 6'2" | CG Cascade Christian | 2027 State OR fits the bill. He has impressive ball handling and passing skills and he can really run. He does a nice job finishing in transition or dishing it off to the open man. He’s also a solid driver in the half court. Uniquely he finds ways to come up with rebounds from the guard position. It’s early in his career but Huston will play somewhere at the Division 1 level – it’s just a question of what level.
6’9 SF Nikolas Khamenia of Harvard-Westlake HS (CA) 2025
Khamenia is a highly-skilled small forward who is a very nice all-around scorer. He can and does score every way possible. He shoots it well with long range, has a solid pull up game in the mid-range, gets to the bucket on the drive and has a clever post -up game. He does need to get stronger physically and more athleticism would certainly help but Nik Khamenia will be a solid high major player at the next level.
6’5 G/W Duce Paschal Duce Paschal 6'0" | CG Central Catholic | 2025 State OR of Central Catholic HS (OR) 2025
Paschal is an athletic guard/wing who excels in an un-tempo setting. He is a competent ball handler and passer who finishes well on the break. He can shoot and drive in the half court as well. He’s a consistent performer who does not make many mistakes which is very attractive to coaches of course. D-1 coaches- put him on your radar.
5’10 PG Zamir Paschal Zamir Paschal 5'10" | PG Central Catholic | 2026 State OR of Central Catholic HS (OR) 2026
Paschal is the younger brother of Duce which makes for a nice “dynamic duo” for Central Catholic. He is an ultra-athletic one-man who can really turn on the jets with speed and burst. His excellent first step allows to beat defenders one on one on the drive almost at will. He can be a little too fancy at times and he must prove himself as a perimeter shooter, but Zamir Paschal Zamir Paschal 5'10" | PG Central Catholic | 2026 State OR has a very bright future ahead of him.
6’8 CF Koa Peat Koa Peat 6'8" | PF Perry | 2025 State #6 Nation AZ of Perry HS (AZ) 2025
Peat is a do-it-all combo forward who has the ability to take over the game and dominate. His physical prowess is unique for someone so young. He’s a smooth handler who creates for himself and his teammates non-stop. He’s a versatile scorer who is a nightmare match-up. If you look up “hard to guard” in the dictionary you will see his picture. Peat is a future pro.
