College Commitment: Portland State
Barron dazzled all season long for Barlow as one of the state’s top high-flying athletes. While he certainly was known for his finishes at the cup, the forward was also able to show that he could knock down perimeter shots as well – enough to lead 6A in field goal percentage. Defensively he was a rim protector, also leading the state in blocked shots. The Portland State signee will be counted on to do it all at the Northwest Shootout.

Arguably the player with the most athletic upside in the Class of 2025 is Barron, who decided to commit to the first Division I offer he received from Portland State. At 6-foot-6, the senior has plenty of length and the ability to jump out of the gym, but also has a smooth jumper from deep and is improving with his overall ball skills. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.6 rebounds last season as he hopes to not only lead Barlow back to the 6A state tournament but capture the state title.

Barron was one of the most impressive performers at the pop-up because he’s able to pair elite athleticism with a just as impressive motor. He showed an ability to hit shots in the midrange but almost all of his touches ended up at the rim. He can be an overpowering slasher and also has enough handle to switch directions and create some gaps from the perimeter. He was making plays at the rim all day, following misses, running the floor for dunks, rebounding at a high rate, and blocking shots around the paint. His strength, motor, and athleticism really stood out among a talented group of players.

Rising to #3 in the rankings is the third Division I commitment so far in the Class of 2025 in Barron. The Portland State pledge earned his offer from the Vikings over the summer, which was a testament to his continued development as a wing prospect and potential to keep growing both physically and with his skills. Barron’s length and athleticism are almost one of a kind in the state at this point and everything is pointing to him having a big year both individually and with the team at Barlow as they chase a 6A title.

The one and only Division I commitment in the building, Barron absolutely lived up to billing at the Expo. The 6-foot-6 swingman was absolutely dominant from the moment he entered the gym and he simply put on a show with his combination of length, athleticism, and skill. Barron glided down the court in transition for a number of dunks, showed good touch on his shot in the halfcourt setting, created and finished around the hoop with both hands, and was a rim protector on defense. Also of note was how after he grabbed the defensive rebound, he would turn and quickly get the outlook pass to guys streaking to the hoop for easy hoops.

The lone Division I commit in attendance, Barron honestly really didn’t even need to attend but the fact he played indicated how much of a competitor he is. As expected, the Barlow senior absolutely dominated the competition at the Expo for the second year in a row, pretty much doing it all by throwing down dunks off drives, knocking down perimeter jumpers, and protecting the rim as a shot-blocker. Not much else to say other than Portland State certainly got a good one in the early signing period.
