We dive into the positional rankings. We first look at the point guards for the freshman class.
A DEEP group of PG’s from top to bottom! Probably will be the most competitive group for the next three years with one-third of all the ranked players with 52 ranked of the 150 total players.
Here are the top-8 PG’s in the 2027 class: (A talented group of eight in the top-28)
Delton Prescott III Delton Prescott III 5'11" | PG Sunnyslope | 2027 State AZ Sunnyslope
A dynamic and fast pure point guard who scored more and more as the season went on. He plays at a blistering pace but can also change speeds. He sets the table for the talented 6A team to make plays but can shoot the three and blow past his defenders to score.
LJ Diamond LJ Diamond 6'1" | PG Desert Vista | 2027 State AZ Desert Vista
A scoring lead guard with a tight and shifty handle. He has a knack for scoring the ball with a next level layup package. He changes speeds getting downhill, has spin moves, floaters and can make perimeter jumpers. His on-ball defense is stifling with his lateral quickness and length.
Kolby Barnes Kolby Barnes 6'0" | PG St. Mary's | 2027 State AZ St. Mary’s (Pictured)
A bigger point guard with real length and ability to facilitate and score. He will play unselfishly and move the ball for others and make plays. He can shoot the three and is a menace on the ball defensively.
Peyton Lubash Peyton Lubash 5'9" | PG San Tan Charter | 2027 State AZ San Tan Charter
One of the most polished players in the class is definitely Lubash. He has rare in the gym three point shooting range and lets it fly with an ultra quick release. He is also a better passer then he gets credited with. His speed in the open court, skill and feel for the game standout each game.
Noah Ondoua Noah Ondoua 5'10" | PG St. Mary's | 2027 State AZ St. Mary’s
A stocky framed scoring point guard makes smart reads and moves the ball but he has a scoring mentality. He can shoot the three off the catch or pull-up from mid-range. He uses his speed to get to the basket and is starting to get some bounce to play near or almost above the rim. He has long arms to defend and uses his strength to keep defenders in front of him.
Jonathan Mercado Jonathan Mercado 5'11" | PG Chandler | 2027 State AZ Chandler
A scoring point guard is a bucket. He has that Jalen Brunson vibe of he can make plays but he will put the ball in the basket. He has polished mid-range pull-up, he can hit the three and use hesitations to get to the basket. He also uses that frame of his to score thru contact.
Myles Godfrey Myles Godfrey 5'11" | PG Cactus Shadows | 2027 State AZ Cactus Shadows
A long and lean pure point guard. He probably thinks to pass first more then anyone on this talented list but can also score. He has frozen ropes up the court and will drive and kick it. He can hit the three and get into the paint. He plays at a different pace then most with the ball.
Adrian Higuera Adrian Higuera 6'0" | PG Millennium | 2027 State AZ Millennium
A pure point guard is quick with the ball and very smooth. He has good size to go along with a burst and a tight handle. He will thread the needle to a teammate and has a nice pull-up from mid-range. He moves his feet quickly on defense.
