About Cayden
Expert Analysis
Scott Burgess | Prep Hoops Scout
While his brother gets more hype Cayden is a legit potential first round pick in the next couple years. Strong frame as a lead guard who has a feel for getting his teammates involved with crisp passing. Tough takes going downhill.

The 6-5 senior shooting guard plays a complementary but vital role alongside his twin brother, Cameron. A crafty scorer, Cayden has worked tirelessly to refine his perimeter shot while remaining a creative and reliable finisher in the lane. His ability to control tempo and set up teammates makes him the glue for Columbus’ offense, and his defensive effort ensures he contributes on both ends of the court.

Cayden is the lead guard on this Columbus squad who can also successfully play off-ball when needed. He does a bit of everything, showing high IQ, knocking down a perimeter shots, pushing the pace and involving his teammates. What changed in the 2nd half was slowing the pace of the game and trying to grind out the offense and slow Prolific and it unfortunately, that backfired. Defensively, he was matched up against Peterson at times and didn’t make it as difficult as many had hoped. Staying locked in on the defensive end can go a long way to getting this Columbus squad back to where they feel they belong and chasing a chip at the end of the season.

Cayden Boozer had a great weekend of basketball in Las Vegas. He is an incredibly talented ball handler, and also showed off his ability to drive to the rim. I’d also say that he looks mature beyond his years with how he leads his team. The Duke commit’s future looks bright.

Boozer is having the best tournament out of any point guard in the field. After a 22 point, 9 assist outing in round one, he went for 24 points on 10 shots while handing out another 7 assists. He sees and thinks the game at a very high level and has shot the ball extremely well through two games.

The 6-5 junior guard is a competent prospect who makes the right reads on the offensive end, with a dangerous knack of scoring on all three levels. Boozer is at his best when he is finishing on the attack while absorbing contact at the front of the rim. His IQ is very advanced where he is a good passer on the move as well as slashing for his teammates to get to the open spots. On the defensive end, Boozer plays with a lot of toughness where he has a strong understanding of angles and has great footwork to stay in front of the opposing guards.

The 6-5 junior guard made an impact with his scoring presence whether it was in the paint or from the perimeter. Boozer plays with a high IQ every time he steps onto the floor as well as forcing the defenses into making a quick decision. Boozer has had a strong presence at getting his teammates involved as well where he collapsed the defense for kick-out shots from the perimeter. He is emerging to be one of the nation’s top ranked recruits to be alongside his twin brother Cameron Boozer.
