Cameron Boozer
About Cameron
Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
The most dominant player in high school basketball continues to produce regardless of the environment and once again Boozer was the best player on the floor against another top team in the country. Boozer’s efficiency from the 3-point line on Thursday was very impressive and his seven assists showed his ability to punish the defense for loading up to stop him. Columbus does such an excellent job defensively with their strength and size which allows them to push the ball in transition and Boozer had a sweet alley-oop dunk that his twin brother Cayden threw to him.

Boozer is the two time Gatorade National Player of the Year. He is a physical power forward that can play both inside and outside. Hit a top of the key three, showed his passing instincts facing up, and was extremely physical getting to the cup. Made trips to the foul line on a regular basis. He is the premier rebounder in this class.

The 6-9 senior power forward is already a household name in high school basketball, having been crowned the National Gatorade High School Player of the Year as a sophomore. Boozer is a dominant two-way presence who led Columbus to back-to-back state titles, topping the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks last season. His versatility, basketball IQ, and ability to impose his will in any matchup make him the ultimate game-changer in the 7A class.

Just like his brother Cayden, Cameron knows winning and doing it often. The intangible impact he has the moment he steps on the floor is palpable. Cameron crashes the glass and is able to overpower competition in most matchups. His court vision and ability to fire off outlet passes once he has the ball in his hands is reminiscent of Kevin Love or Nikola Jokic to jumpstart a fastbreak opportunity. With a solid inside-outside game, Boozer proved to be a matchup nightmare for teams game planning against Columbus. Three of the four games, he notched better than 20 points with a combination of post moves and three-point shooting. The only team that was somewhat able to combat his height and impact was Montverde in the championship game even though Columbus still emerged victorious. Boozer also does well passing out of the post when defenses collapse and hound him. He’s able to remain calm under pressure and find the best option due to his understanding of the game and high level basketball IQ. Also headed to Duke with his brother, Boozer should slot in as the starting forward next year in Durham and continue to thrive.

Cameron Boozer is an elite rim protector, using his length and timing to dominate defensively in the paint. As a lethal rebounder, he consistently cleans up on both ends of the floor, securing second-chance opportunities for his team. Offensively, Boozer finishes strong around the basket, displaying excellent touch and power inside. Additionally, his ability to make accurate outlet passes helps push the pace and transition his team into fast-break opportunities.

Offensively, he finished well in and around the lane and from deep. He also played the dunker baseline area well, making good cuts along the baseline and ducking in from the dunker for shots at the front of the rim. Defensively, he did a good job protecting the rim, blocking and altering shots. He also crashed the defensive boards, getting his head up quickly looking for outlets to start the fastbreak. Areas of improvement this night was just being more assertive in the course of the game. It felt as though in the 2nd half, the team got away from what was working in the first, getting the ball in the paint and having cutters slash through and draw defenders, creating motion and some more open looks or pass out opportunities for Cameron to find teammates.

Boozer is a cerebral player that acts almost as a coach on the floor with the way he commands his team. I was impressed by his footwork around the rim and he also has a nice looking jump shot. Expect him to be an impact player next year at Duke, he has the size and skill needed to contribute right away.

A true two-way stud, Boozer helped lead Columbus (FL) on both ends of the court to a double-digit win over the LuHi. I love the way Boozer protects the rim without fouling, going straight up when contesting shots. With four blocks and a steal, Boozer commanded the paint and led the game with 10 rebounds. On the offensive end, Boozer was efficient once again and did his best work with his back to the basket where he got easy looks. Cam, Cayden and Jase Richardson all played the entire game for Columbus (FL) leading the public school to the Chipotle semifinals where they’ll meet another Nike Scholastic powerhouse, Montverde in the semis.

Boozer just keeps putting up big numbers and helping his team advance. He finished with a hyper-efficient 24 on 9-of-10 shooting, as well as handing out 7 assists again. He continues to produce each time out.

Simply put, there’s no one as consistently productive at a higher level in 2025 than Boozer to this point. He finished with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in their first round victory. At 6-foot-9 he sees and thinks the game at incredibly high level, often making the right pass or scoring off of offensive rebounds.
