Davidson Day 61 – Queens Grant 40
Davidson Day School got their second victory on the young season with a victory over Queens Grant High 61-40 to push their record to 2-0. They ran away with things in the third, outscoring the Stallions 21-2 en route to a win. The Patriots have already notched a victory over highly-regarded Cannon School and face defending state champion Christ School on the road Friday. Mercer commit Mason Smith Mason Smith 6'7" | PF Davidson Day | 2024 State NC leads the charge while unsigned wing Isaiah Denis Isaiah Denis 6'5" | SF Davidson Day | 2025 State NC , 2025 forward Levon Jacobs Levon Jacobs 6'9" | C Davidson Day | 2025 State NC and 2026 William Stevens William Stevens 6'10" | C Davidson Day | 2026 State NC are a few other names to watch with their group.
Providence Day 58 – Lincoln Charter 46
The Providence Day Chargers kicked off their 2023-24 campaign with a 58-46 victory over Lincoln Charter on Tuesday night. 2025 Nick Hailey Nick Hailey 6'6" | SG Providence Day | 2025 State NC led the Chargers with 21 points and 10 rebounds while 2025 Jonah Lawrence Jonah Lawrence 6'3" | CG Providence Day | 2025 State NC filled up the stat sheet in the backcourt with 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. They’re a solid group with a strong cast of 2025 prospects to keep an eye on including Trajan Thompson Trajan Thompson 6'5" | SG Providence Day | 2025 State NC , Osvaldo Haynes and Julian Johnson Julian Johnson 6'6" | PF Providence Day | 2025 State NC . They’ll face Victory Christian Center on Thursday then face Cary Academy on Saturday in the Charger Showcase at 4PM.
Grace Christian 87 – HA Prep 70
Grace Christian School (Sanford) got their season off to a hot start behind a combined 58 points from their dynamic backcourt that’s finding their chemistry. They took home an 87-70 victory in a high-scoring affair over HA Prep. Unsigned senior Ma’Kyi Butler Ma’Kyi Butler 6'5" | SF Grace Christian (Sanford) | 2024 State NC led the way for the Crusaders with 30 points while 2027 guard Nate Jones Nate Jones 6'0" | SG Grace Christian School | 2027 State NC was right behind him, pouring in 28 points. Grant Jacques is another name to keep an eye on in the 2027 class after posting seven points. Eight different players registered points for Grace Christian. They’ll look to keep things going with two games on the schedule to close out the week against Greensboro Day School on the road Thursday and then they’ll face Carolina Day in the Chargers Showcase at Providence Day.
Gaston Christian 53 – Greensboro Day 37
Gaston Christian notched their first victory of the season after an 0-3 start with a marquee win over Greensboro Day School in a rematch from last year’s state playoff game. They’ve faced Christ School, Combine Academy and Carmel Christian School already heading into the first official week of the season. Big man Makoi Mabor Makoi Mabor 6'11" | C Gaston Christian | 2024 State NC showed out with 18 points, three blocks and two steals. 2025 Brett Freeman Brett Freeman 6'4" | PG Ardrey Kell | 2025 State NC stepped up with 15 points, three steals and two assists. 2026 PG Cameron Newman Cameron Newman 5'11" | PG Gaston Christian | 2026 State NC finished with six points and two assists. As Greensboro Day reloads, they’ve taken two losses already in the early going while the Eagles record moves to 1-3.
Greenfield 78 – Ravenscroft 69
Greenfield School pushed their record to 2-0 with a victory on Tuesday night over Ravenscroft School, 78-69. Unsigned seniors Gabriel Marquis and Matt Kirby Matt Kirby 5'11" | PG Greenfield | 2024 State NC chipped in with 18 points and 23 points respectively while 2026 up-and-comer Kobe Edwards finished with 22 points in a collective scoring effort from the backcourt. Greenfield School will be the place to be this weekend for the HoopState 252 Tip-Off on Friday and Saturday. They’ll face First Flight High in the night cap on Friday then square off against Wilson Prep in the nightcap on Saturday.
