About Jayden
Expert Analysis
Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
Quaintance is one of the most naturally talented kids to come through Ohio that I’ve seen. Playing his middle school basketball at Hawken, it was unsure where he would attend school as a freshman. Quaintance never played OHSAA basketball as he left for a Prep School in Arizona as a freshman and never returned to the state. Quaintance then made a pretty shocking move to reclass into the class of 2024 and enroll at Arizona State at 17 years old and ineligible for the 2025 NBA Draft. Quaintance must spend at least two years in the college/overseas system before he enters his name for the draft if he can maintain his incredibly high stock.

Quaintance took Word of God by storm this season with his play in the frontcourt. He’s got tremendous upside in the painted area on both ends of the floor given his size/frame and skill set. With his 7-foot-3 wingspan and versatility, he’ll certainly turn heads next fall when he joins the Kentucky Wildcats.

Quaintance was head and shoulders the most impressive name in the Word of God rotation at the John Wall Holiday Invitational as he showcased his ability to stretch the floor with his size at 6-foot-9. He produced 18.5 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.8 APG and 1.3 BPG while showing he could be a presence on both ends of the hardwood for the Holy Rams in their 2-2 outing. He shot 61.5 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from deep while scoring in double figures in all four games. His most underrated ability might be passing out of the post and finding others to make things happen in the halfcourt. He’s an unselfish big man with tremendous upside at the next level.

stands out as arguably the athlete with the most long-term potential in the entire event, boasting 5-star status. His exceptional feel for the game, athleticism, impressive measurements, and advanced skill set set him apart. Quaintance displays a mature approach to the game, avoiding forced shots, showcasing patience in decision-making, and excelling on both ends of the floor. Even when his offense isn’t at its peak, he has the ability to impact games significantly through his defensive prowess. In a strong showing despite the loss, Quaintance finished with 21 points (7-14 FG) and 8 rebounds, further emphasizing his well-rounded impact on the court.

Quaintance makes his debut as a new face in the 2024 rankings at the No. 2 spot with quite the offer sheet. Kentucky, Baylor, Kansas, Mississippi State, Oregon, Pittsburgh and Washington have all offered the Word of God big man as he enters the OTE stage as a top name to know for their squad. He looks like he’s ready to turn a corner after averaging 6.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 2.8 BPG in the FIBA U16 Americas Championship as Team USA took home gold this past summer. He’s a recent mover into the 2024 class that a lot of high-major programs are after.
