Mason Smith Mason Smith 6'7" | PF Davidson Day | 2024 State NC moves into the Top 15 prospects in the state of North Carolina’s 2024 class as he heads off to Mercer University in the SoCon. He moves from No. 24 to No. 13 in the final rankings update. Smith was a pivotal piece as Davidson Day took home the NCISAA 2A State Championship with a 74-64 victory over Greenfield School. He was an All-State selection as well. He proved to be a solid addition with his ability to be a shot-altering presence in the paint defensively and knocking down shots on the perimeter offensively. He’ll be an intriguing prospect to watch at 6-foot-7 as he continues to grow/develop in the game.

Smith brought energy all night long, whether it was shooting the ball or playing above the rim. He’s great in the pick and pop, where he was able to find pockets of open space and slip out of screens to get open looks time and time again. Also put the ball on the floor and missed his first dunk attempt, but converted the second one into a poster dunk that brought the house down. He’s going to be immediately impactful offensively for Mercer next season.

What is there not to like about a 6’6-6’7 wing man that can flat-out shoot the ball from three-point land and has a high IQ for the game. He knocked down four treys and finished with 16 Points while also being a good playmaker for his teammates from the high post and wing areas.

Smith is a sizeable stretch-forward prospect at 6-foot-7 who saw his status grow on the recruiting scene this past grassroots cycle with Team Charlotte on the UAA stage. He’s a prospect who plays with a ton of energy given his ability to knock down shots, handle the ball and defend the painted area. He’ll be a name to watch as a new face in the 2024 rankings. He’s a prospect already committed to Mercer University in the SoCon as he looks to make his debut in the NCISAA this season with Davidson Day School.

Although Smith might find himself as a wing at the next level, he is the premier paint presence for Team Charlotte 2024. He makes the list due to his ability to have an impact on the offensive end from both inside and out. Mason had a very good week at the UAA Finals in Cartersville, Georgia, and followed it up with a good weekend in Bermuda Run, North Carolina. He is involved off the ball on offense and is a good shooter on the move. Chattanooga and Hampton were among the schools impressed with Smith’s outing this weekend, as they both offered following the conclusion of the event.
