Mason Smith Mason Smith 6’7″ | PF Davidson Day | 2024 State NC moves into the Top 15 prospects in the state of North Carolina’s 2024 class as he heads off to Mercer University in the SoCon. He moves from No. 24 to No. 13 in the final rankings update. Smith was a pivotal piece as Davidson Day took home the NCISAA 2A State Championship with a 74-64 victory over Greenfield School. He was an All-State selection as well. He proved to be a solid addition with his ability to be a shot-altering presence in the paint defensively and knocking down shots on the perimeter offensively. He’ll be an intriguing prospect to watch at 6-foot-7 as he continues to grow/develop in the game.
He moves from No. 99 into the Top 45 prospects in the final rankings update at No. 44 as he looks for a home at the next level. He’s easily a prospect for Division I programs in the region to get eyes on given his size at 6-foot-11 and production in the painted area on both ends of the floor. He’s developed nicely as an inside-out presence who can stay out of foul trouble in his senior as he averaged 17.3 PPG, 10.2 PPG, 2.3 BPG and 1.8 APG on 55 percent shooting from the floor and 31 percent shooting from deep. He’s mobile and shown he can guard out on the perimeter when needed as well. All in all, he’s an available prospect to know in the state of North Carolina this recruiting cycle.

Richard Goods Richard Goods 6’9″ | PF Grimsley | 2024 State NC is another prospect in the 2024 class who’s gotten back to his usual self with a move to Grimsley High to wrap up his high school career. He led them in a variety of ways this season while showcasing his strong frame, athleticism and ability to finish around the rim. He finished the season with 21.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 4.0 BPG, 2.2 APG and 1.5 SPG. He finished the year ranked ninth nationally with 26 double-doubles, second in the state, according to MaxPreps. His 4.0 BPG ranked 80th nationally and 11th in the state, according to MaxPreps. He’s another available prospect for Division I programs in the region to get eyes on at 6-foot-8. He’s a forward prospect who’s still developing his perimeter game while showcasing an ability to defend every position on the floor with his mobility and agility. Seton Hall, Western Carolina and North Carolina A&T are a few of the schools that have offered him.

Joshua Dalton Joshua Dalton 6’9″ | PF NC moves from 48th to 40th in the final rankings update for the 2024 class as he closes out his high school career with Central Cabarrus High. He’s been quite the forceful addition for their powerhouse squad as they’re 32-0 on the year. He’s produced 15.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.0 BPG, 1.1 APG and 1.0 SPG as their second-leading scorer and rebounder on the year. He’ll be a name to keep an eye on this Tuesday in the NCHSAA 3A West Regional Final with Central Cabarrus High at 8 PM. He’s an intriguing talent at 6-foot-9 with room to continue to improve on his ability to attack the rim and painted area on both ends of the floor. Division I and Division II programs in need of a developmental prospect who can operate as both forward spots and at the anchor spot would be wise to take a look.

Jucqarie Love Jucqarie Love 6’5″ | PF Southern Guilford | 2024 State NC was quite the riser in the 2024 rankings as he became a focal point in the Southern Guilford High frontcourt in their run to the NCHSAA 3A Elite Eight of the state playoffs. He’s another athletic forward that’s still available in the 2024 rankings as he moves from 84th into the 58th position in the final rankings update. He took home Mid-State 3A Tournament MVP honors this year as he stepped up in a big way in leading their rim attack on both ends of the hardwood. He produced in a variety of ways as a featured name alongside Jamias Ferere Jamias Ferere 6’5″ | SF Southern Guilford | 2024 State NC , another top prospect in the class for college programs to get to know. Love showed he’s ready to make the next step at the 3/4 spot in any rotation. His wingspan and athleticism makes up for his size at 6-foot-5 and he’s shown he can create on the perimeter off the bounce as well. He’s another available prospect in the 2024 class for Division I and Division II programs to get eyes on heading into another recruiting cycle.

Highlights
Wyatt DeGraaf Wyatt DeGraaf 6’10” | C Cary Academy | 2024 State NC is another big man prospect in the 2024 class who’s come a long way as evidenced by his final landing spot in the rankings. He moves from No. 87 to the 61st spot in the final update after his strong performance in the Cary Academy frontcourt. He’s a 6-foot-10 big man who produced 9.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 1.1 APG and 1.0 BPG in his final year of high school basketball with the Chargers as they finished up 15-10 on the year. He ranked sixth in blocks on the year in the NCISAA 4A and eighth in rebounds, according to MaxPreps. He showed he could finish around the rim in a variety of ways with his footwork and strength. He’s continued to improve on his strength/frame in the weight room while maintaining his skill set as a stretch-big on the next level. He’ll be a solid addition for the future at Brown University in the Ivy League where he should become a factor over the next few seasons on the college basketball scene.

Derrick Green Derrick Green 6’10” | C Fayetteville Acadamy | 2024 State NC is the last of the stock rising big men in the 2024 class as he rounds things out out of Fayetteville Academy. He moves from No. 125 into the Top 100 in the final rankings update as he checks in at No. 96. He’s a sizeable big man at 6-foot-9 who knows how to utilize his size in the painted area on both ends to be an effective presence. Green put up 12.0 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 2.3 APG and 1.2 BPG on the season for the Eagles, according to MaxPreps. He’s a prospect for Division II programs in the region in need of an instant impact paint presence, whether as a starter or as a reserve in his first season. HBCUs would be wise to take a look!
