Got off to a quick start early and remained aggressive throughout the night, finishing with a game high of 22 Points. He’s strong, athletic, can score the ball from every level and has the versatility to play multiple positions on the court. College coaches should clearly be giving him a call sooner than later.

Butler played well to pace the Grace Christian offense with 20 points and battled on the glass, but things got tough for them as his squad battled through foul trouble and rebounding issues. He did well to get to his spots in spurts and went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line but in the end, it wasn’t enough to contend with the Lions.

Butler is one of the top scoring guards on the MaxPreps platform so far on the NCISAA stage given his ability to attack the painted area. He’s a strong-framed guard who has the confidence and the tools to run the show on offense as he has for Grace Christian School this season. He’s posted 19.6 PPG on 50 percent shooting from the field while also showing he can be a presence on the rebounding front with 6.4 RPG, 2.4 APG and 1.2 SPG. He’s an underrated name for DII and DIII programs in the region to get to know.

Ma’kyi Butler, a senior, appears to be an under-recruited player deserving of more exposure and opportunities. Standing at 6’5, Butler brings a combination of physicality for battling in the paint, athleticism for rim protection and finishing above the rim, and a solid skill set with basketball IQ to contribute effectively. In a recent game against Oak Forest, he showcased his versatility, finishing with an impressive stat line of 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks, ultimately helping lead his team to victory. With an average of 20 points and 6 rebounds per game this season, Butler demonstrates his consistent impact on the court and his potential to contribute to a college program.

Grace Christian is usually a balanced team, and it was Butler’s chance to shine this week. He averaged 22.7 PPG over three games last week as his team went 3-0. He’s a strong, physical forward that can play on the perimeter as well as getting to the rim, and has developing playmaking instincts as well. Defensively is really good both on the ball and as a rebounder. With a few offers under his belt already, look for them to pick up as the season goes on.

Butler is one of the top shooters in the 2024 class still available with another season on the horizon at Grace Christian School in Sanford. He’s a strong-framed wing prospect who currently holds an offer from Elizabeth City State that can shoot the ball with efficiency from a variety of levels on the floor. He’s an unsigned senior prospect who should blossom in 2023-24.

Had a quiet first week of action but bounced back scoring 17 Points in week two. He’s a physical player that can score the ball from multiple levels, always plays the game under control and is a player that college programs should be dropping into see.

Recently mentioned in the ” Recruit These Rising Seniors” article last month, he recently picked up an offer from Elizabeth City State University and should see a rise in his recruitment over the next few months. He has plenty of the tools that you love to see from a W/F such as strength, athleticism and the ability to make plays inside and out.
