So instead, I’m opting to break down prospects by area. Here’s a look at the top players in Louisville. This list is not meant to be a ranking of best college prospects. This is a ranking of best high school players in the city.
Christian was named the 6th region player of the year last season and returns to try and lead Evangel to another All A title and hopefully a run to Rupp Arena. A versatile scorer and dynamic athlete, Doerr is efficient in his scoring and playmaking and is one of the better on-ball defenders in the Derby city.
Williams has been named the preseason player of the year in a couple of different outlets and will need a massive season for the Bears to be relevant in the regional title chase. Dayton is a big guard and a high level athlete who will only get better at the next level as he adds more muscle to his frame.
House has stretches in games where he is completely unstoppable. At his best when he’s getting into the paint and either scoring or distributing, Quel’ron is quick, shifty and elusive with the rock in his hands. If he continues improving as a three point shooter, he’ll be one of the hardest players to stop in the state.
After being a go to scorer for Western for three years, Edmonds is now enrolled at Trinity and should be a difference maker for a team that has lacked a post presence the last few seasons. Julius is super skilled from the elbow and in. If he can become a more confident three point shooter, his college stock will take off.
King is one of the best point guards to come through Louisville in recent memory and will soon commit at the D1 level. Blessed with a quick first step and a good basketball IQ, Damone is really good at changing speeds. A good shooter in the midrange, King should have DeSales in the mix to win the 6th.
Drae is on the comeback trail after an ankle injury ended his spring and summer AAU season very early. Vasser is one of my favorite guards to watch in the 24 class because he plays super hard and with an edge to his game. Assuming he’s back to 100%, Drae could have Trinity as the top team in the state by March.
A very athletic wing scorer, Tucker is primed for a big Senior season for a Fairdale team that has their sights set on getting to Rupp Arena. Jacob elevates really well on his jumpshot and uses his athleticism to make him a good on ball defender as well.
Our top ranked 2026 prospect, Jayden is part of a loaded roster at Trinity so he doesn’t have to carry the offense like he may have to if he were at another school. Johnson is a top 100 prospect nationally in the 26 class and has a smooth game where he can be a really efficient scorer.
One of the most skilled bigs in the state, Gibson is an excellent passer who does his best work in the high post. Will has a little bit of an awkward jump shot but it goes in. His footwork and post moves are very polished and Gibson rebounds at a high rate.
