With the opportunity to play in front of D1 coaches for the first time since July of last year coming up, let’s take a look at some players who are currently being under recruited (in my opinion). I’m not saying these are all D1 caliber players. Rather, they are players who should be getting more recruiting than they are right now.
I hadn’t seen Gutman live since last summer and he’s clearly grown a little and added some bulk to his previously very skinny frame. The thing I appreciate about Aaron is his is always applying pressure on the offensive glass and looking for put back dunk opportunities. With his size, length and athleticism, Gutman is the most overlooked player in 2025 in my opinion.

Thompson has quietly changed his game from a scoring combo guard to a facilitating point guard over the past few months. A scrappy guard who plays with a super motor, Sawyer is great at getting into the paint and making good reads instead of forcing his offense. Some school will get a steal with Thompson on signing day.

One of the best players in Kentucky that no one seems to know about, Johnson came on my radar when another player told me how good he was. If you’re a hooper that impresses other hoopers, you can play. That’s the case with Andy. Based on how his spring is going, Johnson could end up with D1 offers at some point. He reminds of NKU’s Sam Vinson. A player who stays local and becomes a big time Horizon League player.

I have been a member of the Will Hanke Will Hanke 6’6″ | SF Saint Xavier | 2025 State KY fan club for a few years now. One of the more effective players in Louisville, Hanke has good positional size and a diverse skill set that lets him show his scoring prowess all over the court. Don’t sleep on Will being an impact player at a high academic school early in his college career.
There may not be a better microwave scorer in Kentucky than Frazier. Whether it’s high school or AAU, I’ve seen Sam go on 8-0 and 10-0 runs by himself when he gets cooking. And he does it quickly. An effortless three point shooter with deep range, Sam can be a really good college player. Especially if he learns to love the weight room this fall.

Coleman gets overlooked in Louisville but he gets numbers consistently. Malachi is both quick and fast and has the ability to score around the rim or from range. He needs to get more comfortable as a half court facilitator but he has the tools to be a really good point/combo guard at the college level.
