There’s still another day of hoops to go.
Here’s the best from Saturday morning:
Owen Byrd, Kentucky Legends 16U: Byrd had 13 points in a win over Life League Grey. He was the best guard on the floor. Byrd was slicing traps, finishing at the rim in transition, while feeding his teammates each time he got double teamed. Byrd isn’t afraid of contact, so finishing through contact wasn’t an issue for him.
Maddox Mitchell, Kentucky Legends 16U: Mitchell also finished with 13 points against Life League Grey. Mitchell took advantage of the double teams sent Byrd’s way. He made shots from the perimeter, converting on 3 3-pointers.
Seth Taber, Team McKnatt: Taber had 10 points in a win over Mavericks Basketball Elite 16U. Throughout the contest, Taber got a lot of great looks inside the paint. He has a thick frame, so keeping him away from the basket was a tough task. Taber cashed in on his opportunities, going a perfect 4 for 4 from the field.
Nate White, Jackson Blue Devils Elite 17U: White had a monster game against SEMO Select. He had 20 points in the 76-52 win. White was a bruiser in the paint, scoring on a lot of possessions with his back to the basket. White’s turnaround baby hook shot was effective.
White’s teammates, Sam Prince and Trendon Spears, scored 17 and 12 points, respectively. Jackson Blue Devils Elite jumped out to an early double-digit lead thanks to these two. Prince ran the floor well, played solid on-ball defense and was rewarded with easy layups. Spears did a great job of pushing the basketball in transition, finding open teammates, and taking quality shots.
