Howery was named the Colorado MaxPreps Player of the Year and was my pick for the Gatorade POY as well, with the season that he just had. When you put together wins, as well as individual production as well, it’s hard to go elsewhere. The 6’5 PG averaged 19 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists a game while also recording just under 2 steals a game as well. He led Chaparral to the No.1 overall seed in the state, and despite the season not ending the way that they wanted, he was the most impactful player in the state. Howery is now explosive; he’s dunking through the lane and stepping out and knocking down the 3-ball as well. The CSU commit doesn’t have to stress this summer and just gets to play, and this is the only spoiler you’ll get — he’s still the No.1 player in this class.

The top ranked player in Colorado, Howery already committed to Colorado State, a program that’s done an elite job at securing under the radar high school talent under their new staff. Howery had a monster junior season after making his commitment and went over 1,000 career points in February. Howery is a prospect I expect to crack other top 150 lists soon as 247 added him to their composite rankings. With Howery and

Howery is the marquee name of the tournament, and when you watch him play, it all makes sense. He plays with joy, he scores in bunches, and he cannot be contained. We saw it all season, but especially in their 20-point drubbing over Mountain Vista. Howery finished with 17 points, and that included some big-time momentum-changing dunks. He has great size, an excellent handle, and a killer mindset where he wants to dominate whoever is in front of him, and that’s been the biggest change to his game that many aren’t discussing. He’s making up his mind to just take over. He created plenty of scoring opportunities by creating mismatches, and that got him either a bucket or to the FT line. Chaparral is in the Final 4 in a rematch against Rock Canyon, and the last game came down to the wire. He’s a game away from the state championship, and that’s so close that he can taste it. I expect another big performance from him.

is defining what it means to be a complete, all-around hooper, attacking the paint at will while detonating above the rim in transition and off the triple-threat. Contributing a monstrous 25 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in Chaparral’s win over Mountain Vista in a Friday night showdown, Howery is a proven catalyst for the Wolverines. He leads by example, and despite a slow first half, Howery helped rally the troops while knocking down crucial threes in the stretch, elevating the energy in the gym. The #1 player in the state is electrifying the hardwood in every which way.

Howery is a Top 5 prospect in the entire state, regardless of class, and may very well be the most complete player in the state. He’s been a Day 1 varsity contributor, but his game has really taken off in the last two seasons. Howery does it all on the floor, and this accomplishment is one of the most rare ones. Not often do you get two 1,000-point scorers in the same class, on the same team but this duo makes it work. He’s putting up 20.6 points a game this year which is a big increase from his breakout sophomore season. He’s dominating both inside and out, he gets in transition and dares people to jump with him and also overpowers smaller defenders. He’s a 6’5 guard with immense upside and we’re seeing one of the best duo’s in state history. Let’s appreciate it. We will likely see him reach this accomplishment in the next 5 games and see how much higher he can push.

Luke’s rise in the rankings is a very short move, but the biggest one. He moved up a spot to take over the No.1 spot in the 2027 rankings. In fact, he’s moved up to a Top-3 player in the state, in my humble opinion, and his numbers back it. Howery looks to be the most complete player in the state as the 6’4 guard made the leap. Through 11 games, he has arguably the best stats in the class as he’s averaging 23 points a game as a three—level scorer that defenders just cannot slow down. He’s getting to his spots, has taken a jump athletically, and Chap still looks like one of the favorites to win it all. He has also proved to be the team’s leading rebounder at 10.3 boards and a willing passer that takes what the defense is giving him at 5.5. assists as well. He’s one of 6A’s leaders in multiple categories, leads his teams to victories, and takes the crown for the class’s top prospect right now. Curious to see how he continues rising.

Howery absolutely erupted on opening night, torching the floor for 27 points and hauling in 16 rebounds in a flat out dominant, high energy showcase. He took over from the opening tip and was hammering home explosive dunks that sent the gym into chaos. Every big moment belonged to him. Whenever Chap needed a spark or needed a big bucket, Howery delivered. He wasn’t just the go to guy, he was the undeniable force of the night

Luke seems to be even more dangerous than he was a season ago, and that’s saying something, as I feel he has the highest ceiling in the class and conference. He’s already one of the most balanced players in the entire state, but comes into his junior season with a chip on his shoulder. He’s been looking bouncy as of late with plenty of dunks in traffic, and also has a consistent deep ball. Luke checks off all boxes as a plus defender, scorer, and playmaker, and he has the size that causes problems for opposing teams. He was incredible as a sophomore, but this might be the year that he makes an even bigger jump, and I think it steps into the spot as the top player in the conference. The CSU commit is one of the best players in the entire state and will be the reason that have a chance to win it all. Howery might be the most underrated player in the state despite being one of the state’s best, and this year he proves it.

has established himself as one of the best guards in his class. Being able to create space from his defender while hitting heavily contested shots makes him a lethal scorer from all three levels of the floor. At 6’5, Howery plays outstanding defense and constantly puts his hands up on shooters. Having mastered his all-around game,

is versatile guard who can out-rebound and out-hustle any opponent guarding him. Howery consistently crashes the glass and follows his shot, not to mention his shot making abilities. Luke can elevate above the rim and has a multitude of ways to slice through defenders and covert on difficult looks. Howery should do just fine continuing his fair share for the Wolverines.
