I really liked Patrick’s aggressiveness on the interior, using his frame well to gain position on the interior. Patrick did a good job of doing the work early to gain position and was productive after he caught the ball on the interior. Scoring with his back to the basket, Patrick was patient and used pivots well. Also flashing some shooting, Patrick liked the baseline to fire away. With his production and size, I’d give Patrick a good chance to make a push for the top 5 in Colorado’s 2028 class.

Kayden Patrick Kayden Patrick Kayden Patrick 6'6" | PF Cherry Creek | 2028 State CO is a 6’6 forward who converts three-pointers at a lights-out 44% consistency. Tallying just under 12 PPG, 7.7 RPG, and 1.6 BPG, Patrick utilizes his size to torch unlucky opponents who have the tough ask to guard him. Defensively, Patrick communicates through screens and always rotates over to the help side. Only in his second year, I see Patrick taking the 15-4 Bruins to a long playoff run at least.

Patrick was the real deal this week, using his big, physical presence to control the game. He finished with 17 points but was relentless and difficult to guard inside, consistently bullying his way to the basket and scoring with ease. On the defensive end he owned the paint, taking away interior looks and forcing opponents to settle for contested shots from the perimeter

Kayden went on a tear this summer and proved why his rankings jump was real. And some people still don’t believe.  At 6’7, he’s one of the most polished, all-around prospects, scoring at all three levels and defending the rim. Kayden has a smooth stroke, face-up game, back-to-basket looks, and should be a fulcrum of the offense. He has it all. With a target on him now, consistency unlocks his breakout, and college interest skyrockets. This is a make-or-break year for him, he will have to step into being the guy or it becomes fully just potential. As we know, I am high on Kayden.

Patrick continued to build on his strong play throughout the fall league, showing a growing sense of confidence and assertiveness on both ends of the floor. His quick footwork and strength around the rim made him a consistent presence inside, while his ability to box out effectively helped create second chance opportunities and jump start fast breaks for his team. Offensively Patrick’s game continues to expand while showing he can score from multiple spots on the floor and is becoming more comfortable taking on a larger offensive role. His blend of toughness, mobility and confidence makes him a reliable contributor who impacts the game in a variety of ways

Kayden is a player who makes the biggest jump of any player in the rankings over the summer, and while it may be a surprise to some, there’s something to say — Players get better. This one makes sense to me. He’s a real 6’7, he is a three-level scorer that is now looking more explosive, has a great motor, and is very skilled for a prospect his size. He’s now starting to realize the type of player he is, powering through defenders and dunking, and not relying on only size alone. He’s a willing passer who he excels on the block and spaces the floor for outside shooting and will likely start getting real attention. With changes at Cherry Creek and a summer of clearly working on his game, he’s a player that has made the jump and improvements you ask for in a player. He’s not a finished product and that’s scary for the rest of the class but he jumps from No. 18 on the rankings to a Top-5 prospect.

Patrick was an absolute standout at the showcase, using his rare combination of size, length and athleticism to dominate nearly every facet of the game. He consistently ran the floor in transition, finishing with authority at the rim, including thunderous dunks that energized both teammates and fans alike. On the glass Patrick was relentless, grabbing rebounds on both ends to generate extra possessions and keep his team in control. But he’s more than just a finisher, he also displayed a smooth jumper that forced defenders to respect him beyond the paint. Always around the basket whether scoring, rebounding, or altering shots on defense, Patrick’s versatility and high motor made him one of the most impactful and dynamic players on the floor, a true matchup nightmare who can influence the game in multiple ways

What we know:

What we got to see from Kayden over the summer is that he’s one of the most intriguing players in the entire state, and in my opinion, has the highest upside of any player. He’s 6’8 and mean. He finishes inside the paint and seems to play with joy. He looks like he loves to compete, and it is not shocking that he’s getting out to the event to go at it with the other players in the class. This is going to be a HUGE year for him, as I believe the offense will run through him for Cherry Creek, and he’s a player that will turn plenty of heads in the next few months, so might as well start with a big showcase.

What we’d like to know:

I’d like to see just how good he is in a setting where he has to go out there and go get it for himself. I want to see if he’s willing to show that nobody can hang with him down low, how consistent of a scorer that he is, and if he has that take-over factor in him. I’ve only seen Kayden in situations where his team goes up big and they take their foot off the gas a bit, but in a showcase setting where I expect games to be close with everyone battling for attention, I want to see if he wants to blend in or stand out. Kayden has already shown me that he deserves to be much higher than he is on the rankings, but just how high can be determined with a big day. Excited to see Kayden in this setting.

Patrick might’ve been the best player in the gym on the first two days. He’s a big man who knows how to dominate inside. He was finishing with soft hooks, punishing defenders on the block, and stretching the floor with his jumper. He plays with touch, power, and vision as he’s willing to make the extra pass and seals hard for easy lobs. When he adds that dog mentality to his frame and skill of just knocking players over as he finishes, it’s game over. Patrick was an absolute standout and one of the best players on the weekend.

Kayden Patrick Kayden Patrick Kayden Patrick 6'6" | PF Cherry Creek | 2028 State CO is a 6’7 prospect with a rare combination of size, skill, and floor-spacing ability. He averaged 5.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per game as a freshman and shot an impressive 46% from three. Patrick is a stretch forward who can protect the rim, switch onto smaller players, and defend in space. He’s mobile, active on the glass, and can impact the game without needing plays run for him. His versatility on both ends makes him one of the more intriguing long-term prospects in the class. With a bigger role expected this season, Patrick is set to turn heads across the state and he seems to be using grassroots to get ready for it.
