Kilkenny does so much of the work that allows everyone else to shine over at Cherry Creek, and I notice it more and more when I watch them. He has an excellent feel for timing his cuts, which opens up the offense for others; he sneaks behind the defense to finish at the basket, and understands how to create space without just having the ball in his hands. He cuts and moves away, slips screens, reads what is happening, and the ball never sticks with him, and that’s a big reason his team’s offense flows so well. Sean makes life easy for guys around him and plays with a toughness on both ends of the floor, and those are true connector-like plays that don’t always get the headlines but has Creek looking like one of the favorites this year. Solid production from their combo guard, who’s a bit under the radar. 

Kilkenny’s development continues to be one of the more interesting storylines to watch. We’ve seen flashes before, but this weekend he looked much more comfortable operating as a primary ball handler, and they needed him to be that. He handled pressure well, settled the offense when things got sped up, and made creative plays around the basket. He also shot open 3’s when they came his way. What impressed me most was how few mistakes he made despite the opposing team forcing Creek to put the ball in his hands. Creek is going to ask a lot from him this season, and I even feel like there will be times that he has to start or gets an extended look because of his he answers the call for them. This was a big weekend for his stock, and he was a booster. 

Kikenny heads into the season as a spark off the bench for Cherry Creek after making his mark as a sophomore. He’s confident in his jumper, hunts looks, and capitalizes when defenses relax. With their frontcourt attention, he’ll need to read, attack off-ball screens, and run in transition. Even with his Marquette lacrosse commitment, he’s a player Creek can lean on in key moments.

Kilkenny is a reliable 3-point shooter who spaces the floor with deep range and confidence. He averaged 4 points per game as a sophomore, as he makes defenders who sag off pay as he stays shot-ready at all times. As a combo guard, he brings defensive effort and anticipation. This season, he’ll be tasked with adding playmaking responsibilities while continuing to thrive in his role as a catch-and-shoot specialist. His game should open up as more offensive opportunities arise, and at Colorado Live, he may even have lead guard responsibilities, so it is essential for him to explore his game. Excited to see him in this kind of role. 

Kilkenny’s steady shot making either off the bench or while slotted in the starting lineup makes him so valuable to this group’s depth, always ready for an opportunity. Comfortable stepping into jumpers off the bounce or catch, he is an excellent floor spacer within a couple dribbles at this stage. Despite not the tallest or physically imposing, his alert help side defense makes him a steady contributor at this stage. 

The sophomore guard has made the most of his opportunities at Cherry Creek, stepping into the rotation with confidence from his jumper. Bringing a quick release either off the catch or dribble, the guard has been a potent option within a couple dribbles. Providing more than just consistent shooting from distance, the guard brings quick reads in the halfcourt to make the extra pass when available. 

Constantly seeking driving lanes, Kilkenny looks to attack the defense before making his next read. Although not the biggest guard, Kilkenny makes up for such circumstances with a quick handle and even quicker footwork. He repeatedly got opponents on their heels while pressuring the rim, fearless versus bigger opponents. 

Kilkenny handled opposing ball pressure, capable of making the right read against an aggressive perimeter defense. His willingness to get downhill set up shotmakers and interior scorers, providing plenty of impact throughout his opportunities on the weekend.
