McClure, a guard out of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, jumped 11 spots in this update and now sits at #15 overall in the rankings. An All-NEPSAC selection this winter, the 6’3″ guard impresses with his feel for the game, ability to create his own shot, and creativity as a scorer. He’s a high level shooter from behind the arc and plays with a lot of craftiness off the bounce in the paint. Beyond that, he’s a good decision maker as a passer and stands out with his compete level and ability to rebound on the defensive end of the floor. He’ll run this spring and summer with the Middlesex Magic.

McClure, a sophomore guard out of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, has been on a tear in the second half of the season. The 6’2″ guard has a terrific first step off the bounce and is a tremendously creative finisher around the rim. He’s done a nice job of adjusting to a higher level of speed and physicality in the NEPSAC this winter and seemingly continues to evolve as a decision maker with the ball in his hands. He does a really nice job of rebounding on the defensive end of the floor, attacks the rim relentlessly in transition, and knocks down threes in catch and shoot situations at a high clip.

McClure is developing into one of my favorite players in the entire 2028 class. Even though the 6-foot-3 guard didn’t shoot the ball that well from three last night, he showcased a number of incredibly impressive takes to the rim, most notably a few one-handed lefty finishes with long contests from TIlton’s big men. He has phenomenal touch with both hands, and he has a super lethal first-step when you play too close to him on the perimeter. Though he isn’t the strongest right now, he’s still able to succeed as a driver, which is an amazing sign for his future. He’s a division 1 prospect, and I can’t wait to see how he plays with the Middlesex Magic this spring.

McClure, a guard out of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, checks in at #6 among the combo guards and #26 overall. McClure has quickly established himself as one of the better scoring guards in this class while transitioning from D3 in the NHIAA to Class A in the NEPSAC. At 6’2″, he has good positional size and looks to have added strength and athleticism since the end of last season. He knows how to create space off the bounce, steps confidently into his threes in catch and shoot situations, and is a tough, late shot clock scorer in isolation situaitons. Like Buckley, he is one of the better defensive rebounding guards in this group.

McClure has the ultimate green light for Phillips Exeter, and you can see why. Even though he didn’t shoot the ball incredibly well against Milton, he has a beautiful looking shot and is on balance from both the mid range and perimeter at all times. He’s a super tough shot maker who can get to all his spots on the floor with his excellent handle and first step. He’s just a super fundamental player who has budding athleticism and a skillset well beyond his years. Scholarship potential for the sophomore guard.

McClure is a scoring combo-guard who has a knack finding the bucket in different ways. He breaks down the game well and lets things happen organically when he steps onto the floor. He has no issue getting to different spots in the mid-range and has a nice in-between game. McClure also can find others for scoring chances of their own. He is primed for a big year at Exeter this upcoming season.

McClure really impressed me with his basketball skill, IQ and fundamentals. He reminds me of Earle in the sense that as soon as you see him play a couple possessions offensively, you can tell he knows how to play the game the right way. He handles it well and can really shoot it from both the midrange and three; he has a beautiful release that he gets off quite quickly. For a freshman, it’s quite impressive how fundamentally sound he looks. Phillips Exeter is the perfect environment for McClure, who should shine there next season and beyond.
