Expert Analysis
Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Ford is an unbelievably sturdy combo guard who does all the little things for Phillips Exeter. He rebounds the ball at an incredibly high clip on both ends, and he’s a loose ball machine. Defensively, he slides his feet super well and can guard anyone because of his 6-foot-4 frame, long arms and great strength. Offensively, the lefty makes the simple play and is a nice facilitator and driver. Definite D3 player who will make any coach happy with his effort and mentality.

Ford, the #129 overall prospect and 17th ranked combo guard, has a nice combination of positional size, scoring skill, and basketball IQ. He’s a terrific perimeter defender that can guard down a position to keep opposing guards out of the paint or up a position to make bigger wings uncomfortable. He’s a tough cover when he gets downhill off the bounce, finishes in a variety of ways around the rim, and is capable of making plays for others off his drives. He’s a tough competitor that has plus athleticism on both ends of the floor. The high academic prospect could attract coaches from the Ivy League and NESCAC this fall.

Ford comes to Phillips Exeter from Poly Prep in Brooklyn, New York, and might be his new squad’s best scoring option. The 6-foot-3 combo guard has phenomenal body control and an off-hand that allows him to get into the lane easily. He can shoot it from the mid range and three, keeps his line incredibly well on drives and can finish with the best of them. He’s going to play a huge role on this Phillips Exeter squad and should probably be getting looked at by college coaches at the scholarship level, though perhaps he could end up playing D3 hoops.

Ford, a combo guard originally from New York, makes his first appearance in these rankings after announcing that he’ll reclassify and attend Phillips Exeter Academy. A high academic prospect, he has good positional size at the guard spot, shows some real wiggle off the bounce, and knows how to create space to get into his shot. He’s a crafty finisher around the rim, can score in his pull-up game, and knocks down shots consistently in catch and shoot situations. He provides defensive versatility, with the ability to guard any spot on the perimeter.
