Kuchenbecker is running with Shakopee OG 2027 at The Tune Up. Carson is a long BIG who works hard for boards, expect him to clean up the glass. Kuchenbecker can also put up his fair share of points. He is tough slashing/finishing along with a quality jump shot.
Carson has some intriguing potential as a prospect. He has a long and wiry 6’4 frame out on the wing, and moves well at his size to make plays off the dribble. Carson had a nice hesitation move that allowed him to freeze his defender before blowing by him to finish at the rim, and also showcased a dangerous mid-range jumper throughout the game. His ability to get to his spots off the dribble combined with a high release point at 6’4 makes it tough to stop when he gets into his pull-up game. Long frame helps him defend a number of spots on the floor and make plays up in the passing lanes out on the wing.
Carson continues to show some nice potential moving forward, as he moves well at 6’4 and has a promising skillset out on the wing. I liked the way he was moving his feet with smaller players on the perimeter, while using his length to contest shots and rebound in the paint. Threat to get out and finish in transition, while also being able to knock down open threes off the catch. Saw time in a pair of varsity games last season, but could see a bigger role this year as a sophomore.
Carson brings in many traits of a wing prospect that can fit into any team or scheme. He stands at 6’4” and is at his best when playing on the perimeter. He is a knockdown shooter and looked good when handling the ball in space. Kuchenbecker was also getting downhill, being able to use his size to finish through traffic.
Carson is an intriguing prospect long term. He’s super long at 6’4+, and showed flashes of being able to play on the wing or in the paint. He was one of the best shot blockers I saw at the event, using his long wing-span and mobility to get into positions to swat shots. Carson showed the ability to take a defensive board and then initiate the break on his own, getting all the way to the rim a couple of times. Also a threat to knock down the open three.
Carson showed some flashes with his Minnesota Fury
team. Physically he fits the mold of a next level wing, as he has a long 6’4 frame with some fluidity to his movement. In the game I watched he showed comfort dribbling into and connecting on a pull-up jumper, while also creating some looks inside with his off-ball movement. Was effective on the glass utilizing his 6’4 frame in the paint.
