Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Alex helped lead Minnesota Fury to the 17u title, and was key in their quarterfinals win over Wisconsin Breakaway . It took most of his team until the second half to get going, but in the first half it was Alex who was keeping them in the game on his own at times. Healy showed impressive change of speed that allowed him to go from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye to attack the basket. Alex was getting to the rim before help-side defenders could react, and extending to finish away from his body from a variety of angles.

Healy’s versatility and poise on the basketball court have been huge factors in the Raiders’ successful season. In addition to his stat line, Healy plays with a very good feel for the game and picks his spots wisely while also being extremely unselfish. Healy is shooting 47 percent from three-point range, making 36-of-76 tries from outside the arc through 19 contests.

Healy helped the Minnesota Fury – Zurn team to a 4-0 record at Madness in the Midwest with his strong ball handling, his physical defense, his strong court vision and his ability to score off the dribble. Part of a very talented team that is 9-0 on the young club season, Healy fits in perfectly with the Fury squad that boasts plenty of size, talent and grit. Healy was the sixth man for a strong Hudson squad as a sophomore and figures to move into the starting rotation for the Raiders as a junior.

I didn’t have Healy on my list of players to watch when I arrived in River Falls, but that changed during the course of the day. I caught the action from two of Hudson’s games and both times I kept getting drawn to #13, who I later learned was Alex. Listed at 6’0″ Healy didn’t look like a kid who just finished his freshman year. He has a good frame that could take any additional height that may be on the way. He will use that frame to finish well through contact but will also look to penetrate and dump. He also has a very quick first step on his takes and will get defenders off-balance with a jab step or ball fake. Healy can take it left or right and showed strength on a baseline drive with his left from the corner. He doesn’t let up on the defensive end either, adding to his all-around value for his team.
