Mercedes feels like the glue for this Beaver team because of all of the different ways he provides value on the floor. Defensively, he can guard anyone you ask of him and is a phenomenal rebounder for his size—he has great strength, toughness and motor. Offensively, he can make defenses pay from the perimeter but also effectively drives closeouts and finishes at the rim. He’s fine to touch the ball a bit less at times but can also have a larger offensive role. Mercedes will be a VERY high-minute guy this season if I had to guess—will be hard to take him off the floor.
