Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
White, a guard out of the Dexter Southfield School in Massachusetts, checks in at #10 among the point guards and #40 overall in this rankings update. The 5’10” lefty can shoot the cover off the basketball and stands out with a quick and compact release. As a scorer, he does a great job of moving without the basketball, finding open passing windows, and cutting to the rim. He’s always under control with the ball in his hands and makes good reads as a decision maker playing out of ball screens. Defensively, he’s really quick laterally which allows him to put tremendous pressure on the ball without fouling. White plays his travel ball with the Middlesex Magic.

White, a guard out of the Dexter Southfield School in Massachusetts, checks in at #7 among the point guards and #50 overall. White has stepped into a big role this winter for Dexter, showing the ability to operate as a primary decision-maker with the ball in his hands while also continuing to knock down shots at a high rate in catch and shoot situations. The lefty has good burst off the bounce as a driver, plays with more wiggle than you’d assume, and has some real creativity around the basket as a both a scorer and facilitator. Defensively, he can really get into opposing ball-handler and has a knack for creating steals and deflections.

Quickly getting accustomed to the prep level after a standout two-year career at Boston Latin, White had plenty of dynamic moments in a spirited loss to nationally-ranked Western Reserve (OH). Splitting time both on and off ball in a guard-heavy lineup, the southpaw was at his best attacking off the dribble with a crafty handle and quick first step to create offense going downhill. He showed impressive vision as a passer while also stepping out for a pair of 3s to keep things honest. Despite being a bit undersized, White also stood out with his toughness and instincts on the defensive end while coming up with a handful of loose balls. He struggled at times with turnovers and will have to prove his consistency from the perimeter, but White’s energetic play off the bounce and flashes of dangerous shotmaking potential offer a clear path to a scholarship-level prospect in time.

White has typically wow’d me with his point guard abilities, and he certainly did those things for Dexter this weekend. He always makes the simple pass and is comfortable handling the rock against pressure. On Friday, though, it was his shooting that made a huge difference. On the move, in spot up situations, and off the dribble, White showed some pretty special shooting ability from three. He has a quick release, and boy is he accurate. Big future ahead for White, who’s currently starting on a very talented Dexter squad as only a sophomore.

Though White might not earn a starting spot as a result of being behind senior starter Schuller, the sophomore guard could be a significant piece of Dexter’s bench and an even bigger part of their future. The 6-foot southpaw is incredibly heady for his age and has really excellent passing vision; he doesn’t turn the ball over and always seems controlled in the lane when making decision. He also strokes it from three and showcased some much improved strength and athleticism at the hoop. White is going to be a really great player in a few years and will probably have a significant role even this season.

White, who will head to Dexter Southfield this fall as a member of the class of 2028, is another high IQ prospect that does a great job of making life easier for his teammates. He’s a floor general that knows how to get everyone organized and on the same page, he doesn’t cause the basketball to stick, and he knows how to find and attack the advantage. He can get to his spots off the bounce and while he’s a good finisher over size in the paint, also excels in his ability to find big men around the rim or to spray it out to shooters. He’s another guard that creates offense from defense and does a good job of keeping his eyes up the floor in transition.

White, a lead guard out of Dexter Southfield School in Massachusetts, is a terrific decision maker that knows how to score and processes the game at a high level. Offensively, he has the ability to pick apart a defense both as a driver and facilitator with the pass. He has a quick first step, plays at different speeds, and scores with some creativity in the paint. Defensively, he has the ability to read angles and is willing to give up his body to take charges and dive on loose balls.

White was one of the better defenders I saw on Sunday. Despite pressuring aggressively for the entire game, he was able to provide a consistent level of effort and intensity throughout. He fights over screens quite well and recovers fabulously once he’s beat off the dribble. Offensively, he does a great job running the offense and making simple plays; he always makes the extra pass and is a master at the drive and kick game. The lefty also handles it very well against pressure and can shoot it from three. White will be reclassifying and going to Dexter next year, where he should really thrive.

Continues to amaze me how crafty, shifty this player is. He is ready for the big stage someday as he continues to make big plays in big games for his team. He is very elusive with the ball, getting by defenders on the way to the basket having the knowledge when to make a jumper. He makes tough shot after tough shot and forces the defense to overcommit to playing him leaving other players open. He is impressive leading his team in both of the games I saw in rebounds and, for his size, a great attribute to his endless effort to achieve greatness.

This kid will be special with ability to play both ends of the floor. Great at reading plays on defense and what the offense it trying to accomplish. Active defensive hands leading to steal after steal. On the offensive side of the ball he will be a great scorer and facilitator. Explosive to the basket with strong hard takes. A true floor general trying to time his pace. Great handles where at times looks like he will fall over but a strong lower half keeping his dribble alive.
