Adamson is developing into a true point guard for his Middlesex Magic squad, and it’s awesome to watch. The 5-foot-10 guard has always had incredible quickness and strength on drives to the rim, but on a Magic squad with tons of shooting and scoring, his ability to facilitate has shined through. He had 19 assists and 3 (!) turnovers during the first UAA session, and he showed the ability to play under control in the paint and make smart passes to shooters and cutters all weekend, even though he can’t see over the defense. The defensive intensity is always there for Adamson, too, who should start to get some scholarship looks despite his lack of size.

Malik did “Malik” things against Kimball Union, meaning one of the Top 3 players on the court against 3 D1 players on Kimball. He finished with a team high 23 points. He lures opposing players to double him easily getting out traps to find his teammates for open assists. Really understands where/when the double team is coming. He is so strong and absorbs the contact without much vibration either attacking the rim or off the dribble. Going back to his passing skills he made a beautiful transition interior pass for an assist. Malik did a good job contesting a shot at the rim without fouling. Malik is D1 talent but would thrive in D2.

Adamson has arguably been Dexter Southfield’s best player this year, which something relatively unexpected coming into the season. But the 5-foot-10 guard is one of the strongest pound-for-pound juniors in the entire region and has a three-level scoring and facilitating game that’s hard to defend. He is a total bulldog when it comes to attacking the hoop—defenders bounce off of him routinely—but he can also knock down the three ball. When he touches the paint, he has awesome patience and passing vision. He’s probably a scholarship-level point guard despite his lack of size.

Adamson, a guard out of the Dexter Southfield School, stood out with his competitive fire and ability to impact winning. Built liek a running back, the guard does a terrific job of picking his spots as a scorer, getting downhill off the bounce, and making life difficult for opponents on the other end of the floor. He’s got terrific strength, but also continues to make strides in the skill department and with his ability to make shots from all over the floor. His game-winner on Saturday was one of the standouts moments of the weekend.

Adamson was probably Dexter’s best player in their convincing win against Brunswick on Friday afternoon. The 5-foot-10 point guard is one of the stronger junior guards in the region and is pretty impossible to defend on drives. Defenders completely bounce off of him routinely, and he can get to the front of the rim for finishes with both hands whenever he wants as a result. He also slides his feet incredibly well on the defensive end and clearly has some pretty great conditioning ability to be able to go hard all game. He’s a total bulldog who will probably be under-recruited because of his lack of size, but he can absolutely play at the scholarship level.

Adamson is only 5-foot-10 but his heart is 7-feet. He plays with so much toughness, passion and aggression — you love to have him on your team but hate to go up against him. He guards for all 94 feet and pesters opposing ball-handlers by beating them to the spot and using his hands. Offensively, he’s incredibly shifty with the ball and makes the correct reads when operating out of the pick and roll. He handles ball pressure super confidently, too, so he’s great to have out on the floor towards the end of games. Against Phillips Exeter at Babson, he didn’t hunt threes but looked like he had a really nice-looking stroke. He should be a very key player for Dexter Southfield this season.

Great vision for a floor general, understands when to push with tempo and set up half court offense. Broad shoulders increase his chances for And 1’s but has a bag of handles and understanding when to use certain moves to counter defensive adjustments. Had a nice pull up paint floater and underhand scoop layup on the weakside. Sometimes you watch players who play one side of the ball but the case with Malik as he guards at times the opponents best/tallest player and his communication skills led to turnovers for easy fast break points for his team.

Adamson, who heads to Dexter Southfield after a strong season in the MIAA at Burke, had a strong summer on the travel circuit with Team New England Basketball Club. A rugged and tough leader guard, Adamson is capable of taking over games as a scorer or facilitator. He’s strong enough to play through contact, finishes in a variety of ways in the paint, and can really get going from behind the arc when he’s on. He has a good feel in ball screens and shows an understanding of when to turn the corner and look to score versus when to find the open man. Defensively, he’s another guard that likes to hound opposing ball-handlers for 94′. His toughness and intensity shines on this end of the floor as he’s willing to hunt down loose balls or give his body up to take charges. The move to the NEPSAC should help his exposure and with continued development, he could play his way into scholarship consideration this winter.
