He finds different ways to score the basketball and creates separation well off the dribble. Quinlan is effective breaking down defenders in one-on-one matchups. Defensively, he shows good instincts by getting into passing lanes. He can lead the break when his team has a scoring advantage and does a nice job navigating downhill.

Quinlan, out of the Roxbury Latin School, checks in at #19 among the point guards and #116 overall. A bigger guard at 6’2″, Quinlan does a nice job of controlling pace and playing at his own speed with the ball in his hands. He’s got some wiggle off the bounce, is a crafty finisher around the rim, and makes quick and decisive reads coming out of ball screens. He continues to impress with his ability to shoot the ball from all over the floor, but has definitely taken strides in his game as a floor general in recent months.

#131 to #115 (+16)

Quinlan’s superpower is his shooting ability, and that’s the foundation of almost everything he does on the floor. Defenders have to constantly be alert when he’s moving off the ball and coming off screens (he does a great job at this), and they can’t give him any space when he’s handling the ball. This allows the 6-foot-1 PG to get downhill and then make plays for himself or others, something he’s quite effective at. Quinlan should be a key player for Roxbury Latin this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see his recruitment pick up with some added size moving forward. He’s probably a high level D3 guy.

Despite only being a rising sophomore — and one of the youngest players in the chico summer shootout league — Quinlan looked incredibly comfortable and confident. The 6-foot-1 PG is incredibly skilled and makes the simple, right play every time (even in a streetball setting where many are playing ISO ball). Quinlan sets awesome off ball screens, makes quick and decisive extra passes, and always knows what he’s going to do with the ball before he catches it. He also might be one of the better shooters in this league. He’ll absolutely find a high level D3 fit when the time comes.

Quinlan, a lead guard out of the Roxbury Latin School, checks into the rankings at #133, climbing 20 spots since our last update. Capable of running the show at a high level, Quinlan does a nice job of playing to his strengths on the offensive end of the floor. He’s a quality ball-handler, has a good combination of size and skill, and can play through contact at multiple levels. While he’s really improved as an initiator and decision maker, his perimeter shooting is still a seperating skill as he is able to get his jumper off quickly and does so with deep range. Defensively, he sets the tone as a point of attack defender that isn’t afraid to be physical on the ball or give up his body off the ball to make plays that lead to winning.

Quinlan is usually one of my favorite players to watch, and he didn’t disappoint during the college night on Monday. The 6-foot-1 guard is always dribbling with his eyes up and scanning the floor, which allows him to make on time, on target passes to teammates consistently. He has a really nice handle and a compact, controlled jump shot that is quite effective, and he can shoot it from the midrange and three (he gets solid elevation in the midrange). I would imagine he’ll be an incredibly key player for Roxbury Latin next season, and I’ll be very curious to see how the sophomore adds to his game this AAU season.

I was surprised to find out Quinlan is only a sophomore after watching him against Rivers. Despite his lack of vertical size, he does a really good job using his body and is quite strong when keeping his line on drives to the hoop – something many underclassmen guards struggle with until they get older. He also has a great looking three-point shot that he can hit off the dribble, and the ability to finish at the rim with either hand. Quinlan should be a key part of Rivers moving forward, which bodes well for his recruitment in the coming years. And if he can get a few more inches, watch out.

Finished with a double double in points and rebounds. Great vision leads to high percentage shots and assists from him. I enjoyed how he rounded his footwork off for a good looking shot off a flare screen. He attacks the ball on close outs and gets to 50/50 balls. An intriguing trait is his variety of moves to get offensive boards off free throws when he is on the block.
