Acosta is a player who continued to pop for me throughout the Spring for State 38 as he shows flashes of a player whose role could continue growing quickly, and we want to see it as he gets into team ball in June, as well as the rest of the summer. He checked off many boxes as he protected the paint well, rotated defensively with discipline, and didn’t foul. In the games that we saw in our event, he came up with a few blocks, got some deflections, and was not easily backed down. He can stretch the floor on offense as a mid-post flasher and can get downhill as well. He’s firmly on the watch list moving into the Summer and we certainly want to see more.

Acosta turned in a strong two-way performance, highlighted by his impact on the defensive end. As a bigger presence, he showed the ability to protect the paint, altering shots and making it difficult for opponents to finish around the rim. His timing and positioning allowed him to contest without fouling, making life difficult on the inside. Acosta also showed awareness by playing the passing lanes, showing that he can contribute defensively beyond just the interior. Offensively, he added value by stepping out and knocking down shots from beyond the arc, stretching the floor and keeping defenders honest. His versatility and defensive instincts make him a well rounded prospect to monitor.
