Santiago Elliott
About Santiago
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I’m a PG/SG who plays fast and aggressive while staying under control. My biggest strengths are defense and playmaking, and I’m a pass-first facilitator who looks to get my teammates involved. I take pride in my leadership and setting the tone on both ends of the floor.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I have a competitive mindset and I hate losing. I love pressure situations and step up when the game is on the line. After a bad game, I focus on cleaning up my mistakes and getting better. I lead by example and vocally when needed.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I play for Alice Birney K-8 and have earned Honor Roll for my academics. I’m also a team captain, showing leadership on and off the court.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Basketball has helped me develop strong leadership and teamwork skills. I focus on helping my teammates improve and being someone they can rely on. The game has taught me patience and how to stay composed in tough situations.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Yes, I’ve faced a challenge when I had to play up a few grades when I was 12. I was playing against 15 year olds.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college with a strong basketball program where I can compete at a high level and continue developing my skills as a point guard. I want a coaching staff that pushes players to improve and a team culture built on discipline, hard work, and winning. Academically, I’m looking for a school that values education and will prepare me for success beyond basketball.
